Uhhh. You should get a raptor. The two trucks don’t compare.

A ford raptor isn’t even comparable to the Tacoma. I’d never buy that POS, but it’s not in the same truck class. If you’re looking at a ford raptor but 1.05 will keep you a Tacoma owner, you don’t really need a raptor.

So go get a raptor, bro.

I have followed this page since it started. This has happened before every release. Leading up to it, weeks prior...the masses gather together for the lynching...it comes out...and it's better than sliced bread...then............another mention of an update, and the cycle starts all over.

In this case though, there's not just back and forth about the tune... this time we're seeing Taco bashing and Ford talk. Sheesh.

Haha, no bashing on the Taco! I find it comical that this truck gets compared to the raptor sometimes. Two very different beasts. Looking forward to the release of 1.05. Hope the dude doesn’t think that the tune will make his truck a Taptor.

I actually read through all the bitching on this forum last year before I bought my truck, so I was hyper-vigilant during my extended test drive. I took the demo truck through its paces under as many different road conditions as possible, and I kept a close eye/ear/seat of pants on the shifting behavior. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, so I went ahead with the purchase. It took several weeks for me to realize I'd made a mistake, and at that point it was too late.

I've been trying to figure out why I didn't notice how bad the programming was on that test drive. Maybe it's the nature of the test drive experience. Most of the things I ended up hating didn't really become evident until I'd spent a few weeks driving the same roads over and over, and at least one bug which would have been a show stopper (the shitty, overly aggressive cruise control) did not become obvious until we took the truck out West and used cruise at 75+ mph for 6-8 hours at a time.

Gentlemen, after 7 hours of cussing, busted knuckles, and lots of beer and nicotine, the transmission has been removed, URD Stage 2 clutch and TORQUE-U HD flywheel installed, throwout bearing replaced, and everything put back together, the results are in after 100 miles of test driving.

The stock clutch and flywheel setup is garbage. The new clutch and heavy flywheel paired with 1.05 gave me a raging hard-on. The shifting is so smooth, idle is smooth, the truck doesn't shake at all, RPM's are steady, and there is no bucking in 1st gear when leaving from a stop. I am a happy happy man.

    Trashed stock throwout bearing:

I didn't do the accumulator delete mod yet. I wanted to see how it felt with the better clutch first. I can definitely feel the clutch engage and disengage now. I am going to let the new clutch get broken in before I make the decision to do the accumulator delete mod.

The dealer probably disconnects the battery for a few minutes every time someone returns from an outing in the "demo truck". That way the demo truck will never exhibit the symptoms of learning that you will come to despise in your truck after several weeks/months of ownership.

I just removed my accumulator this weekend, what a great and easy thing to do to make the clutch feel so much better (especially when its cold). Without the accumulator the truck behaves like a normal manual, up-shifts are better, down-shifts are better...overall I am really happy with the small modification.

@Trident904 - How many miles on your truck? (sorry if its posted before) Glad you were able to upgrade everything, I am a little shocked the hardware (especially the bearing) imploded. (Not questioning you, just surprised).

48k on the truck. 40k of that is with 35's and full armor on 4.88's.
