    Come to think of it, I think I had idle/low speed fluctuations back when we were testing one of the 1.03 variants.. anyway, Mat killed that as well.

    1.05 91. Just got back from 160+ mile drive today for my job that consisted of a mix of surface street, highway and country roads both paved and dirt. Wow! Where to start. 1st thing, no idle issues for me. Truck is smooth at idle. Transmission shifting is smooth. Truck has stock gears on 33 inch Cooper ST Maxx 58 lb tires and I live at 6000 ft. I liked the 1.03 tip in with the bigger tires but it was a little touchy. 1.04r was a little soft but 1.05 feels great, easy to modulate. Power down low feels better and truck just feels more connected to each gear rather than downshifting at every tiny grade or hint of wind. Also the shifting is smooth.

    I actually saw 6th and 5th gear today on the highway but still needed 4th gear heading back west into a headwind doing 75-80 mph. (not expecting miracles with tall tires and tall gears). Without the headwind, truck easily held 6th and was much more relaxed on the highway. @OVTune has a winner here. Toyota North America should pay Mat for what he's done to fix their screw up. Will update OVTune Reviews page once I get a bit more time with it. Might throw my old stock wheels and tires on just to see how it feels on the highway.

    Alright Gentleman, I won't leave a full on review here, but 1.05 will likely be everything you wanted it to be. When you push the throttle, it simply goes. Shifting is predictable, and the dance you would see at highway speeds is all but gone. If you need a downshift, simply apply more throttle and you'll get a predictable downshift. Low speed control has also been greatly improved, from what appears to be a substantial revamp of the torque converter lock up sequence. Oh, and did I say this thing moves? Even with my heavy E rated 265/75/r16 tires.

    With all that said, one thing that needs to be stressed is the idle learning procedure. I had some bad idle surge right off the bat, which I will assume was caused in part by the engine not being at operating temperature when I first preformed the learn procedure. I went back and started from scratch. Drove the truck around and got it up to operating temp, THEN flashed the truck and let it idle with all accessories off for at least 5 minutes. After doing this, the truck idled great, and the surge was gone. Moral of the story, get it up to temp, and then perform the learn procedure per Toyota's instructions.

    Idle Learning Procedure:
    1) bring engine to operating temperature
    2) Flash Tune
    3) idle truck for 5+ minutes with all accessories off.

    EDIT: Just read Mat's reply to others who were also having an issue with idle surge. Apparently there is an update in the works, however, the learning procedure posted above should still be followed whenever a new tune is flashed.

    Decided to cut my test drive short because of traffic (only got in 23 miles), but so far I’m liking it. It definitely responds better off the line than all prior tunes. No issues with idle for me, it’s super smooth.

    Bought to go fill up with 93, and flash 91 and see if the idle flux is still there. Want to try 91 tune anyways...87 was starting to feel a lot better with more miles on it today though.

    I’ve flashed several times and let it learn correctly.

    If anyone is interested in a video of the idle I’m seeing, PM me.

    You’ll see what I’m seeing and maybe you’ll notice it too.

    You may end up wanting to flash to the updated 1.05.

    But it’s being fixed. I’m not worried.

    Yeah you did. Others did too. This was roughly around when the freebie TS files went around and we were taking videos to see if we could hold our tach needle steady with low throttle input at a standstill lol

    This was the initial trip mileage 30 miles mostly highway with truck using 6th and 5th gear and rarely downshifting to 4th. Actual number is higher since the computer is not accounting for the larger tire (+7%)
