Bingo! That's it. I didn't mention the 'sitting for an hour or so' part, but my truck also exhibited those same symptoms. Mine also never really got any better, or worst, until it went away all together. Now that I think about it, it may have been 1.04R when it truly went away for good. 1.05 is too early to say, but I doubt it'll surface again.

So the gradient at my old house may have played a part as well. It created just the right amount of engine load to induce the flair under a cold start situation. Unfortunately i've since moved so this may have played a role in it going away? Anyhow, hopefully you can get on 1.05 and let us know how it effects the flair. If not, it would be nice to see someone data log the flair and send it to @OVTune for review.

Have you tried ect, or s-5? Just checking, shift points are different in those modes.

That would be the opposite of rev matching... Rev matching is raising the rpm on down shifts not up shifts.

Some of you guys would be lost if you had to row your own gears.

Ok was at a Family Christmas party all day so just catching up! So i see guys with gears and larger tires need to hold off until custom tunes are ready to be taken is this correct? I am lifted with 34's and re geared with lots of armor. I dont want to lose 1.03 if 1.05 isn't ready for trucks equipped like mine. 1.03 is working the best for me out of all the tunes released prior to 1.05

Yup. It has some quirks but it’s never let me down and even with all the new things in the midsize segment, I’d still take the Tacoma over all of them.

The tacoma is very well built I will say. The engine is pretty much bullet proof and way over built. The transmission is also very good. I’m not sure I have ever known aisen to make a bad tranny. Toyota rear ends can be a bit noisy sometimes but I have never heard of one failing after hundreds of thousands of miles. All of it is soooo much better then the American crap.

Aside from pulling out of my driveway and getting up to residential speeds, I coast downhill nearly a mile to my first intersection. It does it every single time I pull away from that intersection (continuing downhill). It's like forgetting to release the clutch on a manual, rev to 2000rpm and then side step it. It's alway a jolt that plays out in slow motion. It revs in neutral for what feels like a full second before it slams into gear. I've adapted to it, just as the revs flare I left off the gas, coast and then gas again and everything is happy for the rest of the day.

Considering 1.03 and 1.04 didn't improve it, I'm guessing 1.05 isn't going to fix it. It's about time I data log it.

@OVTune - Just out of curiosity, after all the durst settles with 1.05, how difficult would it be to rebuild older tunes (ie. 1.04R) for the new 2019 ECU's (ie 04B30)?

I'd love to be able to compare 1.05 to a few of the previous tunes and decide which seems best for my driving style.

265 70 17 is all I have, I believe it to be the same as your 16’s. Thanks for the reply. I’ll live with it for now while you get this deployed, then work with SSP and any custom tuning after you’re not swamped.

Me and my unique, wonder-truck are happy with the tune, except the slippage between 1st and 2nd.

But I'm going to stop posting because Mat refuses to acknowledge it and calls me out.

Did that just start with 1.05?

Maybe the proper thing to do would be to take some logs and some videos so he can see what you are talking about instead of making it into a pissing match.

Just upset he didn’t get full testing privs this time, it’s called entitlement and I’m glad Mat spoke up about it.

I'm curious to know how the custom tunes are going to work. For example, is there going to be a page with a couple dozen tunes and the reason why each was requested? If you're running 34's and lots of armor, try tune #19. It would be interesting to see what different folks were try to solve for.

He said there is going to be a custom tune request form.
