Only out for those on the 04B04 with dongle and no gear lock I think that’s coming only via custom request after all the flavors get released

    Err 04A61 too

I too have the 2 to 1 clunk when cold / lukewarm. When it is at operating temp it goes away.
Had this from day 1 and currently with the latest TSB.

After 150 miles today it did smooth out for me. I’m excited every time I jump in my truck now

Ah man. I was hoping to get it before my drive back home next week. Sounds like it going to be a while.

Mine is the dongle version. Looking back I’m on the 1.02 tune right now. I’ll habe to go back and see which version I have.

To me it looks like the throttle is running up to the downshift limits, but the vehicle speed isn't matching load conditions. It'd be nice to see if there was an incline and or headwind condition contributing to the load/throttle position/downshift threshold to be reached at that point. Based solely on the video clip, it looks like the vehicle is slightly over-geared (larger than stock tires on stock gear ratio), which if that is the case, would exaggerate any load condition and also throw off the speed input the ECU is reading.

I'm just hoping OVTune isn't getting his time ate up with some of this forum talk and can get the 04B02 version of 1.05 out. Every tune he's put out has made my truck better. And every tune has been free, no upgrade fee or junk like that. Heck, I just got a wrong item from a supplier, cable company keeps screwing up my service, internet seems like it always drops off right at the time I really need it and my power goes out if a squirrel runs across a branch near the pole fuse and blows it, but they won't trim that damn branch near it. I said all that to say, I wish those other companies I deal with gave even 1/2 the customer service OVTune does. He has always responded to my emails, no, maybe not that day, but I'm okay with that, I know mine is not his only email. Jeez, some of this thread is ruining my Christmas spirit, where's my eggnog & Tylenol? o_O

Driving around the roommate's truck to break in the 30 miles before his trip home to Oregon tomorrow. Averaged 19 mpg around town in the 35 mph streets mostly cause I had the dogs loaded in the back. Truck would idle down shift to cruise at around 1300 rpms but would roll up with demand.

Power was good, shifting was good, and everything that was "quirky" smoothed out after about the first five miles and 20 stop lights. He is on 34s with a 6" lift and 4.30 gears. 150 lbs of bumper and winch. Made the truck seem very "light" as everyone else has been describing it. RPMs did vary more then in the past that I've seen and maintaining speed took some getting use to due to the increased responsiveness. Both things I liked. Eight drunk people got a free ride home too.

Not only did I acknowledge it, I explained it, and said if anyone wants it to shift different to email.
I've had several messages from 4x4 trucks that they actually prefer it shift this way, and once again, it was done so to alleviate the clunking.

Specifically, it was done to help reduce or eliminate the clunk and or "bucking" when coming to a stop in 1rst gear when the truck downshifts. It is more than just a clunking it feels like, for a moment something pops in the back of the truck. This is from the transmission harshly going into 1rst gear.

Even more specifically, which I have explained in great detail, the same tables that control the gears going up also control the gears going down so anything you want the truck to do going DOWN must also remain when going UP. So, to tune the 2 > 1 DOWN, also directly affects 1>2 UP.

    Hey @OVTune
Will you guys be sending out pending orders and/or sending out registration files during the shutdown? Or are you solely focusing on 1.05 release and support? Not trying to rush you, just curious.
    Thanks

You're good Mat - most of us saw your replies to him.

I think I speak for the majority of us in saying 'Uhh, thanks!!' Thanks for busting your ass on this project, even into the Christmas holiday! And thanks for customer service that goes above and beyond.

Your product so far has been amazing and has saved several of our Tacomas from being traded in on something else. We know it won't make an automatic behave exactly like a manual. Hell, there are limits to what is possible and it seems that you're doing way more than what Toyota can/will do. We look forward to the general availability of 1.05 because most of us know it'll be better than previous tunes, and without any of your work we'd all be stuck with sucky ass stock Tacomas.

    Merry Christmas!!

I planned on dropping off any remaining orders tomorrow morning, but I dont know when they will arrive to people.

I think part of it is the fact that people have been on the TSB and 1.04R for so long they think this is how the truck should drive, or it's the most ideal way for it to drive. (might be for some, if you have a 4x2 with no weight, stock tires, 87 octane)
However, the TSB, and 1.04R files still have things that need corrected that were focused on with 1.05.

    1. The lack of immediate power/ response in low rpm.
    2. The lack of ability to maintain gear, speed, response on the highway.
    3. The rapid deceleration whenever you are not on the throttle due to the shift schedule. - This is a huge issue for trucks with larger tire or weight, it compounds the effect, making the truck feel like it weights 10,000 lbs.
    4. The shift dancing between 40 and 50mph. (This is still some-what present on 1.05 due to how the shift tables are now designed, it is done so for a specific reason - So that the truck will NOT get stuck in 4th gear on the highway. As a result / side effect, the truck may, depending on accelerator position, change from 4th to 5th in that medium speed range 40+ to 50mph.
    5. The upshift on coasting that drops the engine under 1000 rpm (when going about 40mph)
    6. useless cruise control
    7. The use, or lack of use, of the torque converter locking
    8. Getting stuck in 4th while requesting aceleration on the highway.
    9. Less than desirable MPG.
    etc.

1.05 is vastly different than the TSB or 1.04r. It may just be too different..

My tranny was 1.5 qt low from the TX factory. Had the dealer bring it up to spec, but I’ve had a clunk since day one, on all tunes. Least clunk on B04 tsb, but haven’t been able to load 1.05 yet.

@OVTune, you've done a great job at telling in layman's terms how this crazy power train works & what you've done to correct it. I hope you know that at least 95% of your customers feel money well spent on what you've done. Can't please them all. Case in point, last day before Xmas break at work, small shop so me & another guy said we're buying pizzas for lunch, tell us what you want. Get the pizzas, everybody's happy except one. He bitched because there wasn't a gluten free, not making fun, understand it bothers some. Asked him why didn't he tell us when we were asking, his response, you should've known. Unbelievable :annoyed:
