12? Weak. Come back when it’s 8-9. Then we’ll talk.

My last fill up was about 8-9mpg for the first half a tank trying to keep 75-80mph.

I'm definitely curious. I'm running 4.5" lift, 315/75r16, steel bumpers & sliders, winch and a Leer shell, and I'm getting 16 - 17 mpg. Short of a legit monster truck build, I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around 8 - 9 mileage.

17 y/o son just got home from driving my truck. He’s driven it regularly through every release since the beginning.

Tonight was the first time he’d driven it with 1.05. I normally tell him before he leaves the house to let me know what he thinks about the new tune. His reactions have always been very mundane...until tonight.

Not tonight - I said nothing to him. He had no idea before leaving that I had done anything to it.

As I heard him pull into the garage, I sat on the couch and waited for him to come inside. We made eye contact and I gave him the universal head nod for “what’s up bro” and said ”what do you think?

His response, “dude, what did you do to the truck? It was so fun to drive!”

37’s, light bar, 6” wider fenders each side, bumper, winch, sliders, full skids.

To fair that isn’t adjusted for tire size so add an extra ~17% for that.

I can get 13-14 if I stick to 65mph. Once I’m in an 80 zone and try to maintain 75-80 I’m around 4500 rpm and that’s when my gas mileage tanks. Was fun on a 700 mile drive.

That’s with the 1.02 tune. Can’t wait for the gear lock on 1.05.

So what I just read is, you get better mpg than I do.
And I have none of the things you just listed.

yeah, mine didn't make it out either (#3632), kicking myself for not placing the order a few days earlier ;)

Hey, this way, the bugs get sorted out and the full package gets released before we get our package, right?
PS - not bitching, I'm off work for the holidays, not a reason in the world Mat shouldn't also get to be

    If so that sucks!

Well it’s about five inches of vertical face that sits above the roof line. Just like a roof top tent. So yeah I’m sure that factors into it.

He makes a kit that basically doubles the intake capacity to the stock cold air intake box - thus allowing the truck when under load to pull more air into the box and thus through the stock air filter. Do a search for "G Tek Fab" in buy/sell thread . He makes it for the Tundra and Tacoma. Relatively inexpensive and takes about 1/2 hour to install.

don't need to reflash - just remove the negative battery lead for 5 to 10 minutes and then reconnect - note this will clear your odometer trip mileage.

Okay that search may not work - do a search in the 3rd gen section for "stock air box mod?" thread. it will show up and g tek fab is the vendor.

Found it with a little Google-fu. Just trying to read between the lines to figure out how much of it is snake oil versus actual gains.

well that is the 64K ?? you can only suck so much air through a hose - unless you have two hoses instead of one! restriction is the air filter and down stream - but at least you can provide additional volume compared to stock. When the skinny pedal calls for more air the mod allows more to be delivered to the filter.

Edit: I can say my mpg and performance under load are better with this mod than they were when stock. The truck simply breathes easier during all conditions.
