Perhaps we can put the business talk ( "what happened to my order, what the status etc) through OVTs customer service on his website... It'll clear it up here and stop him from getting tagged in 50 million posts.

good luck... 80% of the thread is "where's my order" or

Given the subtle increase in power, Im actually interested in using an 87 tune now as well. I've been using 91 ethanol free since I bought the truck as it did provide some small benefits on the stock tune but given how well this drives now, I'm more than will to sacrifice a few ponies knowing the driving behavior will still be top notch.

You could probably use octane booster and get away with that for a while

For those who love how their truck drives on back roads and offroad but HATE the way it drives in the city, this tune may be the answer you've been looking for. I've been working odd hours to avoid heavy traffic, but this morning with interstates shut down for wrecks I was forced to spend 2 hours of my morning meandering through parking lot secondary streets. Miserable traffic for sure, however normally when this sort of thing happens it is amplified by the sluggishness of the truck. Hard to put into words, but it just felt "easy" Prior to the tune it would start to feel so bogged down, slow, and sluggish in those conditions that it felt like driving this truck in the city was not only miserable to drive but was actually harming it...

This tune has made the truck enjoyable to drive, even if the traffic blows and that is absolutely a first in the 10 months I've owned it....

I am very tempted to get this tune! Is there any risk in this reducing the longevity of the engine? Is the engine "pushed" too hard with the tune installed? I know OVTune knows what he's doing I just haven't ever tuned a vehicle. Is there typically in adverse effects to reliability/longevity?

Thank you! I'm a newb when it comes to this kind of stuff

My guess is he'll eventually have different flavors of tune for those who want to focus on drivability but aren't looking to push the engine to it's limits while still having some aggressive tune files available for those who do want to sip every last drop of power out of the engine. No one can say for sure on reliability - it's a risk any way you look at it. But I can tell you that based on my experience, I can only imagine the STOCK TUNE was harming this truck more than the current version of the tune. No way it was good for the truck to be lugging and so smothered feeling compared to the easiness with which it moves now...

He has mentioned that he is taking special care not to circumvent the safe guards in place to mitigate damage to components... and there are plenty of safeguards in place from what we can tell. Current tune release is conservative, but worth every penny imo and my datalogs aren't showing any crazy rich/lean conditions which would be the main thing I'd be worried about when messing with fuel maps.

Is the air/fuel mixture similar to what it was prior to the tune? Thank you for your help! That makes me feel better about it

A/F seems pretty much unchanged and Lambda is within normal range for the truck and holds pretty steady at 1.0 at cruise, catalytic converters are not being heated any more than they were prior to the tune and MPGs seem to be unchanged thus far.

Edit: One thing I have noticed is the Target A/F and Actual A/F are closer together now, pre-tune there was a lot more variability than I see now

I have had the tune 1.01B installed for about 200 miles so far. My truck is all stock. So far I would say I haven't really felt much of a change compared to the two other times I had my truck flashed with new ECU tunes from Toyota. I bring that up because when I had the truck flashed by Toyota I felt like the truck was much better but as time went by (the learning period) things went back to the way they were before the tune for the most part. Yes things feel smoother and the throttle response is a little better but I had that same experience when it was flashed by Toyota. I was hoping to have more of the throttle response I get when I drive my wife's 2010 highlander. When I drive that thing it takes me a good 15 miles before I adjust to the immediate throttle response I get from it. My next test for this tune is when towing. I tow a 22ft travel trailer and I will be interested in seeing what difference the tune makes with a heavier load. I am not trying to knock the 1.01B tune and I look forward to other tunes coming out but I did want to share my experience so far.

Interested to see what happens with the towing. Did you try putting it to ECT power mode? It's significantly different.

Its incredibly different. It feels much more reactive and responsive to pedal input on ECT. It pulls so hard too and on my rig with a bunch of steel armor.

ECT power + S mode = lots of freaking fun.

I find myself using it a LOT more now than when the truck was stock.
