No re-gear yet. Lift is the Bilstein 6112/5160 w/Dakar Medium Leafs. not a ton of weight except the ARE cap, bed mat, tools and maxtrax and heavy tires. I was ready to re-gear and then Mat put out the 1.03 build. That felt like the truck dropped 1000 lbs. Got the TSB done and then went to 1.04r 91 and combined with winter gas, my mpg dropped into the 16-17 range and truck just didn't feel light on it's feet anymore but shifting was better. I am sure some of that was the winter gas. Got me thinking about gears again. 1.05 91 scratched that itch for now. 33" skinnies are great for this truck. Love the ST Maxx. You get the height without the big gas hit. With the improved gear holding and power in 1.05 I can't wait to road trip over the continental pass to see how it does. I still may do gears as I want to do rear bumper, sliders and more armor.

You folks talking about MPG, riddle me this... I recently got the best gas mileage I've ever had with this stupid thing driving back to AZ from TX, and then to CO. Averaged somewhere a little above 17, even saw 18+ a few times between fillups. The catch is that I was carrying an extra 5-600lbs of rocks (literally), plus my 340lb Habitat, and luggage/gear/water, while going 75+ for the majority, and there were hills. Other than the Habitat, 1.04 87oct. and a few minor interior mods, completely stock. It seemed to hold gears better with all that weight vs. "empty" too. This damn thing makes my head hurt sometimes.

One can only assume the reason why these trucks range from as low as 12 to as high as 25mpg is because they drive so unpredictably. There’s been times I’ve gone to my family’s house upstate NY and I get 21 then another time I get 16. All other variables being very similar, that is a huge difference. All I know now is that driving around town and short parkway trips it’s more efficient to keep it in S5. Any true high speed interstate travels and I will allow it to go into 6th.

I think maybe thinner air/less drag? I think part of the problem is the damn computer readout. You see 12 mpg on a trip and it bugs you. My 2011 averaged worse mpg but I didn't have that fancy readout telling me that that 12 mile city trip at 12-13 mpg sucked. I some times just turn off the mpg reading. Also - these trucks are like Jekyll and Hyde. Favorable conditions can net great mpg and reverse is true.

I have a question for the tech savvy among us: When mat releases 1.05 today and we all try to download it at the same time, is that going to cause a problem? Sorry, I don't know a lot about the inner workings of the internet.
