Nope, I’m just waiting for some mindless goon to complain about why the MT guys are getting gear lock with every tune. Lol.

Damn, I wish I could consistently find 93 where I live. I'm running the 91 right now.

You can get 93 around racetracks in Ca but that is all I know of.. not convenient...

Yeah, but you get racetracks and you live and Cali so you're still kind of winning. Unless you like shooting guns...

I wonder how the 93 tune would respond with 91... Probably just use the knock sensors to throttle back performance right?

Hey everyone. I was wondering if it is feasible to load the 1.04 tune in my 19 MT. In the next couple days I have to drive from Oregon to Odessa Texas and I would like anything that is better than stock. This thing is a dog in the hills :annoyed:

You cannot load anything to a 2019 except the exact 2019 file. Please do not even try.

We are being very selective with who tests what because there has been, in the past, people have a hard time following instructions or requests and run to the forum and give their experience on a test file before even telling us about it.
Because of that, testing is very selective and limited.

You gotta admire Mat with his dedication to the forum (among many other things obviously). We are only a fraction of the tunes that he has sold, yet he maintains a solid presence here - despite the crap some here dish out. What other company offers such a personal experience with a direct line of communication from the masses to the owner? It really makes you feel like more than just a customer. Once his company grows, we're going to miss this type of interaction. I'm already dreading having to deal with a customer support line! Should it come to that, at least we'll know how well Mat really is doing with his company.

Thanks @OVTune. Let us know when you go public, I'm in for the IPO.

Flashed 1.05 91 from 1.04 91 (04B03) with my dongle and I'm close to 200 miles on it now. Although I have not gone through a full tank of gas yet, I felt that I have enough time to give my initial impression with my stock wheels, lift, and no real added weight/armor.

Let me start with saying that I did not mind the agressive tip-in of 1.03 (once you got used to it)...but my wife did. Once I got used to 1.04 (91), I was quite happy with it except for the clunk when coming to a stop and the freeway dance (between 4th & 6th). It took a couple thousand miles, but it learned my agressive pedal tendancies to overcome the dead spots...so it usually responded quickly at the expense of MPGs.

The first couple of days with 1.05 (91), I definitely noticed the smoothness (no more dead pedal feel), the dreaded clunk was gone again (I never had it when I was stock). Best of all, it now does what I expect it to based on my right foot position!!!!!! No more dancing or fighting the truck. If you want to cruise at a low RPM, it will do that while you feather the pedal. If you need some power to make a pass, then give it a mash and it'll smoothly accelerate.

The obvious improvement is that the Taco is now an Interstate-worthy vehicle again! No more dead pedal feel. Once it got above 65MPH, it felt like the slightest incline or breeze from a butterfly's butt would cause it to drop to 4th, over accelerate, and then cause me to let off the gas to compensate. I swear, it'd happen every few minutes and it made driving such a chore. It would also kill my gas milage and I was not looking forward to long road trips in the Tacoma. With 1.05, I am not afraid to give it a little gas because it'll hold the gear while still slowly accelerating (without dropping to 4th).

Interestingly, I also felt like the engine was more relaxed and quieter. I thought that maybe the new tune had reduced the power that was in 1.04. But after a full week, I have grown used to the changes and realize that the truck is still just as powerful and responsive as it was in 1.04, but now it is getting up-to-speed with less effort. I assume that's because of the increased low/mid power increase. It still plants me to the back of the seat just as it did with 1.04. It's as if the truck is a sprinter that got in a good stretch and is more limber yet just as powerful and fast. Basically, it doesn't feel as pent-up as it did before.

Overall, @OVTune really really did a great job with this release!!! Thank you Mat, the wait was definitely worth it!!!!:thumbsup: I can't wait to try the gear locking once you have time for custom tune requests. :D

For everyone going to 1.05, give it few hundred miles before you post. After that point, then ask Mat or post here if appropriate. Both you and the truck need time to learn and adjust. And don't forget that you can always request a custom tune and it doesn't cost anything extra (other than more time while you wait). That's amazing in itself!

To be very honest you aren't helping the situation out...

MT trucks already have a 1.05, either FO or MO. But now there is a complete rewrite of the ECUs ROM using the same 1.05 version. Why is this not now 2.0, its a major rewrite of the underlying control logic correct? How is it possible to have two totally different architectures of code using the exact same version? If someone is not watching these threads like a hawk how the hell is someone supposed to understand whats going on? All of the threads on this site for your product are a giant circle jerk of 90% nonsense with almost nothing useful, making it even more difficult for someone to understand what is occurring.

The fact that someone needs to constantly F5 on either this site or your blog to figure out if a new update was released for their specific vehicle is insane. Then on top of that you release the files compressed in rar. Why? The flash tool only works on windows right? Why are we using a compression format that is not supported by default on windows? Again people will ask about what the hell a rar file is and how to open it.

Then lets say I dont like the latest tune and want to go back but deleted the old file, where can I even get those old files minus looking over thousands of pages of posts to hopefully find a link to the one I needed. Why is this not centralized on your site or hosted somewhere with proper versioning.

Now you also have dongle and dongleless setups which honestly is a good move but now you have different instructions for each, a different process for attaining each file adding even more confusion to all users.

Im an SRE for a company you have 100% heard of, keeping track of what the hell is going on is becoming harder and harder. If its getting hard for me, someone that is constantly dealing with releasing code, managing systems at scale, and tracking changes in code bases over time I can only imagine how hard of a time people that are not tech proficient are having. Let alone all the questions you get for things like this from those people.

You are working way too hard. I think everyone appreciates what you are doing, but I think you need to find someone that can help you streamline your process so you can focus on ECU development.

It is not nearly as easy to do as it is easy to say. I am well aware the current methods are inefficient, and can be confusing. I do not have a team of software engineers. It's all been built from the ground up. And I know I've been messaged, or people post here about expanding, hiring people, etc, or that suddenly the Tacoma has made me a millionaire. It's not the case at all, Just doing this platform is quite expensive, but people don't see what goes on behind the scenes.

1.05 is the end of the road for mass releases so it won't be like this in the future. There is also a lot of confusion about tune versions, ECU IDs, etc that I am really not sure how to make more clear. I've never worked on a platform with as big of a volume as this and as confusing as it can be with ECU versions and TSB upon TSB releases from the manufacture.

I selected to use RAR files because last time, with .ZIP, many people were complaining of file corruption when extracted.

Regarding this thread, I cannot control it.

Mat I dont want to come off as an ass but code signing has been around for a long time. Its not new at all. I dont know what you are using to build your projects but If you are using .net/C# or using VS, code signing is built into the tool (signtool.exe). You need to acquire signed keys from a CA but otherwise its very well documented.

Your software should be able to pull down selected versions based on what the owner has. Then when plugged into the car/truck it validates what files are able to be flashed based on the meta data inside of the ECU. That way your users cannot mess it up what so ever. If the 2020 truck comes out the user cannot flash a file that is not supported on that hardware version. I entirely realize this is easier said then done.

You should be able to publish and create MD5/SHA hashes during upload to confirm the file is consistent.

EDIT: Using version numbers twice is very bad practice. I get you are a single man doing all of this work. At least help your sanity with good version numbers: https://semver.org/

And what happens if you arent a TW member and you just bought the tune through his website? No one should need to go through that amount of effort.
