    Just flashed with 87 file.
Took it on local roads(eastbound I90) for a short drive. Last weekend I labored to reach and maintain 70 mph on the same incline. Tonight I concurred that biyatch on 6th and downshifted to 5th just once.
Other thing, before tonight if the truck is in 6th and TC is locked I could not accelerate on the slightest incline. Now, I have a positive acceleration under these conditions.
1-2-3-4 shifts are right on money for me and honestly I did not notice anything strange there.
Engine is super quite at idle and at the speed.
    Love it.

Anyone have any input on how long the learning lasts? I’ve gone through a full tank, and still averaging 12 mpg

Where does the line for 4.88 gears 1.05 tune start?

I am patting myself in the back for not going to the latest tsb. My conscious was telling me not to, because i might want to go back to 1.03 just like 1.04 when it came out. Finally I was able to flash back after many attempt. Goddam!!! I almost shit in my pants on take off! The only thing i loved about 1.05 was the quietness of the engine. Truck drove so SMOOTH... All I can say is preference! 1.03 works best for me. I will just have to wait and see if Matt will release the "Insane mode" he mentioned during 1.05 development, or not. I think he will exceed a lot of his customer expectation if he make the "insane mode" happen. If not, I will await for the custom tune...

I'm actually curious to learn exactly what gets changed in the gear-specific tunes. Will entire tables simply be shifted in one direction, or another? Or, is there some sort of simple algorithm that gets applied across the entire tune based on the differing gear ratios? What unintended consequences could there be for various aspects of the existing tune?

The same is true for tire sizes and added weight. What exactly gets changed during customization for each of these items?

I think the above would make for a very interesting blog post if Mat is ever able to translate the details into readable English for morons like me... lol

Correct. On that note; anyone want to engineer a switch that bypasses Adaptive Cruise and goes straight to "old skool cruise"?
@mesojdm. I haven't used Adaptive since the day I drove it home. Tried it out long enough to know that it's awful, and haven't used it since.

Yes I agree, I think the "custom" part will be: tire size and gear size

If you hold the button to activate your cruise for a few seconds, it does exactly that..

I know that. I do it every time I use cruise.

Turning ECT on is a simple button push every time you get in the truck, but there’s an “always on” mod available. Was simply asking if it was possible to have the same to bypass adaptive cruise control.

So all this talk and unhappiness with 1.05 and needing to resort back to the SSP and SB basically just confirms that only one of the transmission types offered by Toyota for the 3GT is worth a damn, and spoiler alert, it's not the slushbox lol AT owners will never be completely happy anyway. Newton's lesser known 4th law.

You're basing that entire statement on the 10% in here. The 90% majority aren't in here, they're out happily driving their trucks finally.

I'm perfectly okay with making that generalization. Mat has already told us that the MT files won't drop until the AT guys are sorted out. Previous observations from this thread indicate the strong possibility that that could be a long time. Half these guys are simply determined to find something to complain about it would seem.

And that’s just the tiny percentage with a tune. The vast majority of Tacoma owners are driving around happily in their untuned trucks.
