I used the OBD fusion app this morning and it read 0 almost the whole time. But at one point it read 5 when i was at low rpms going 50 mph on the freeway. Then once I sped up it went back to zero. That dashboard doesn't make sense to me...

Here is snapshot of me crank the truck this morning. Bottom row are cylinders.
Other is Mode $06 monitor and the end of 17 miles trip. Total # of misfire 17. Most of them were in 1st mile of the trip, school zone speed.

You logged from cranking? the first 20 seconds of start up where combustion is most unstable.

You should log in 6th gear low rpms, high load and you’ll capture the stuttering/misfiring

That's a lot of misfiring (subject of debate, I suppose) when at speed on the freeway IMHO. Per the service manual, the counter resets itself every 1000 revolutions so it isn't a static value that keeps climbing. The mode $06 will show a full tally of all misfires in a drive cycle however.

Reading this and comparing to the old CPS TSB, it seems to me the CPS is reading engine speed based on the teeth on the rotor - and variations in engine speed as @OVTune stated that are out of expected ranges will trigger a misfire. The CPS replacements were stated to be as a result of excessive anticorrosion coating on the crankshaft rotor, but the "fix" was to replace with a difference CPS that wouldn't be affected by the loss of gap (and static charge) of the slightly enlarged rotor with excessive coating. So it could well be that trucks who had that issue log misfires inaccurately as a result? The tune still makes some of our misfire counts go significantly higher but I'm just trying to assess where a common theme could be in those who have no misfire behavior vs. those who react as unstable when ignition is changed on the tune?

    @OVTune

No issues here. Ran 1.05 91 Octane and re-flashed to 1.05 87 Octane for comparison. Prefer the 87 octane tune - seems to have more of everything. 1.05 91 octane tune was up about 1.5 mpg over the 1.04 87 octane tune. 1.05 87 octane tune so far averaging 21 mpg. Really like the skinny pedal response with the more miles driven. Totally happy. Looking forward to S mode ETC gear lock and 4.88 tune.

    I learnt something new..

I've been thinking about CPS as well. If we can find a perfect 1.05 truck..
    Thanks for the info.

I have no issues as well.
My concern is to find out should I be worried about elevated # of misfires on cold engine or not. I have TSB numbers and 1.05 87 numbers after. Care to log misfires and share the data?
    and hangovers do suck..

No logging of anything. Pretty sure they happen as others have reported - however I have had no performance issue (towing or other) to give me a concern. My post was simply a reply to 1.05 issues / concerns others seems to keep posting and reporting. DNA of our 3rd Gen is simply not what many expected based on 2nd Gen. I had a 2nd Gen (V6, 4x4, MT). I like my 3rd Gen better.

I haven't seen any issues and based on how this thread has become a ghost town I'd assume things are pretty solid. I'm just not sure why all of a sudden people are logging for fun? Like you said, I think some are just looking for something to complain about

No.. there's another explanation. Some people in this thread come here and say things like "my transmission shifted from 3rd to 4th at 39.662mph" or " it shifted from 5th to 3rd to 4th in the blink of an eye" or "I'm getting tons of misfires", etc.
I'm not seeing any of this. But maybe it's because I'm too old, or just too oblivious. I just want to confirm that the answer is "None of the above".

8th gear? What’s up with that? Does that mean Park or Reverse?

I just purchased a Kiwi3 and Fusion App for logging purposes (ATF Temp - towing and misfires). For me, I have some "bucking" issues at times, on low RPM/high load or at a high level of acceleration when getting up to highway speed (Currently on 1.05 87). Mat is already aware, and mentioned this is being logged and tested on a few trucks. Whether this was present at stock or not, I want to compare and determine for myself if I am damaging my engine further by being on 1.05 or if I legitimately have a warranty related issue on TSB tune. This is my truck, and I want to ensure I am not relying on others to determine what is good for my truck.

What PID are you linked to? Mine only reads 0 to 6.

I think he's reading the one that shows the position of the Shift Lever, not the gear status of the of the transmission.

I recall going trough a few available PIDs and was able to get reading only on this one - status of the gear position/fail. Gear Indication is in sync with shifting.. Correct one? Maybe not, but it works.

I linked to “status of shift status - 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th,6th,7th,8th” and like I stated it only reads 0 to 6. The TC only reads 0 or 1 so I don’t think it reads half lock.

My gear position on OBD Fusion has each gear value of 16. 1st gear=16, 2nd gear=32 on so on. Apparently my truck wants me to keep my math skills sharp.
