It's the leg that is really long. He said "holding your foot on the brake pedal for a couple of mins"

Or does he have a prosthetic leg?

Ahhh, clear now lol. Or you could short the negative cable to the positive cable after disconnecting both cables from the battery.

Is disconnecting the battery supposed to reset learned values?

If so, the service manual says it doesn't reset values.

Thanks for posting that. Maybe that's why Mat said to disconnect for 10 minutes, instead of just a few seconds? And it seems my idle is below tolerance @ less than 600 rpm.

Service manuals normal idle tolerance is +/- 100 rpm from 550 to 650, a 100 rpm variance in idle is big, along with that odd idle target, that's why our new map corrects it.

I'll double check through the manual to see what it says, but if you only unplug for a few minutes it won't. Has to be long enough.

You can tell when the learning values are reset, the truck will drive like dogshit for like 10 miles or so.

I used the following steps in techstream. ECU - Utility - Learning Values reset
Transmission - Utility - Clear Memory

Saw similar behavior with a 30 minute battery disconnect (Trip Meeter reset)

I noticed that when I disconnected my battery for 20 mins or so that my trip meters reset. Maybe this is an indication it was disconnected long enough to drain the capacitors or something ?
Anyone else notice this also ?

Not handy. It's a winter wonderland out here in Seattle. When my driveway thaws I can get under the truck and take some pics.

Folks just spend 3 mins disconnecting the + and - terminals and hold them together for 30 seconds. Put cables back on and you're good to go. Been doing this for years to reset learned values and Check Engine Lights after fixing said ight.

I’ve had my truck for 3 years. Never has this issue until this year when Starting the engine when it’s -25° out has (which it barely cranks over) has caused my trip and dash brightness to reset every time. Likely draws so much from the battery it resets without disconteting it. So I wouldn’t say that the trip reset is an indication of a long solid battery discontent.
