1.05 is great. That’s not what I meant. I meant with the TSB you can’t flash back to old tunes. 1.03 had more power and response that’s all.

I’m confident that the 1.05 updates will make 1.03 pretty much null

    All,

While I've read quite a few of the posts (reading the entire thread would take some serious time, lol), I still have a few questions I hope someone with more in-depth knowledge might be able to answer:

    a) how many "tunes" are actually included? 87 octane, 91 octane, 93 octane, 87 octane with 6900 rpm, 93 octane with 6900 rpm? Or are some of those not available yet? Can I flash to different ones to see what I like best?
    b) would it ever be necessary to flash back to factory before taking the truck in for service? Assuming there's a "backup" of the original? Does the calibration ID change after upgrading?
    c) are there any guarantees as far as support into the future is concerned? When Toyota releases new TSBs, is it conceivable that 1.05 simply stops working and we would have to rely on Matt providing an updated version....noo offense, but OVTune obviously is a very small company, so I think that is a valid concern.

    Thanks,

    Bernie

Your best bet would be to check 1st post for updates and search for OVTune posts and read thru them...
    a) Currently, for AT, 1.05 variants are 87/91/93 octane. Additional variants/options available 'soon' with release of new flash manager utility. You can flash/reflash among tune variants.
    b) You can flash back to stock tune (also provided thru flash manager utility) if you want. Calibration ID currently remains same as stock tune after flashing to 1.05.
    c) Are there any real 'guarantees' in life ???

You're splitting hairs, but thanks for adding literally nothing to the conversation. I've been reading the forum for months, and it takes a hell of a lot more than a minute, and all I see is all the handheld folks just sitting back being extremely patient, while everyone else is whining and crying about the tune. We've been waiting since October, with barely a mention here and there, because Matt has to babysit the rest of you. It was a simple question for Matt, and your 2¢ wasn't necessary.

    Back to lurking...

Back on topic my 19 has the 043B1 in it. I saw a few pages back and another thread that was asking what the difference between that and 043B0 was. Did that answer ever get posted? If so I missed it. I fired off my ECU information earlier this evening hoping for an early reply so I can get it loaded and play with it this weekend.

Sorry I hurt your feelings by answering your question literally, and giving you the same answer Matt did by pointing out his latest mention of the handheld status. I follow this thread for updates; if you think I’ve needed babysat then feel free to search this thread for anything I’ve asked for, which is nothing.

Drats. Have fun I'll patiently await the email with my tune. Shot us some pictures of this dyno day. Doubtful I'll ever get this truck on one so I can at least live vicariously

Based on recent blog post, perhaps he's for a Rav4 or Camry on the dyno today to push more power out of that 2.5 ;)

After the long (too long) discussion around clearing learned values / battery disconnects, I was really curious how accurate the service manual was. It is accurate, based on my testing. I disconnected my negative battery terminal for about 30 minutes, then before starting up the truck, I connected OBD fusion and checked the learned values for things like Knock Correction Learn Value and the multiple A/F / idle learned values. The later should reset to 0 after a true ECU reset, whereas the Knock Correction Learn Value should reset to 14deg after resetting the ECU. What I found was that, somewhat randomly the best I could tell, some but not all of those learned values truly reset. So this morning I hooked up TechStream and accessed the Engine > Utility and cleared learned values then took another look at the stored learned values. The indeed were all reset to zero with the knock correction learn set back to 14 (I can tell this b/c with 93 in the tank, it generally stays in the high 20s vs. 14 which would be the baseline for 87 octane).

I'm back on the TSB for now awaiting the next 1.05 batch of updates / flash manager, but I was struggling b/c my truck just hadn't been running quite "right" but I couldn't put my finger on it. Seems that even with a battery disconnect there were some ECU learned values that could have been causing some "confusion" perhaps. The vibes that had all but gone away quieted back down after this so that's worth the time to me!

I know one thing, for future flashes I'll make sure to manually clear all learning in TechStream and follow the idle learn procedure (start truck, after it is WARM let idle for 5 minutes, then drive slowly - but >6 mph, stop and idle for 20 seconds, drive slowly for a short distance, stop and idle in D for 20 seconds, then take it really easy for a few minutes to let ignition stuff settle in.
