I see a lot of hate for the wireless QI charger in these trucks, and I am going to go ahead and state the unpopular opinion, based on personal experience, that it simply depends on the phone.

I see people complaining all the time about how their phone doesn't charge on the Tacoma QI, or it still loses charge, or if it charges it charges very slowly.

Definitely dependent on the phone itself. I never had an issue with my old LG G6, my wife has never had an issue with her Samsung S7, I know of people who have confirmed no issues with the S8, and my Google Pixel 3 that I bought charged 6% over the course of a 3 Mile drive, twice, the first morning that I had the phone. 7% for my wife's Pixel 3 XL. I can reference this with accuracy due to my having just copied and pasted this whole spheal from a Facebook group where I posted this the day after getting my new Pixel 3.

Furthermore, being able to use a case while charging wirelessly is definitely also phone dependent. I had my fabric/plastic hybrid case on my Pixel 3 for those charges.

Is the above list of devices that work well a short one? Sure. But consider that the tech is relatively new for vehicles and is developing, and as I said, is dependent on the phone too. Don't write it off as a failed piece of tech just yet guys. If you're using an old phone that uses wireless charging tech that is even older, then you're going to have a tougher time. Plenty of other people have also reported having positive experiences with the qi charger.

I'm sure there will be plenty of people here who disagree, and I do not care. Your opinions do not invalidate my experiences.

Definitely an opinion, no harm meant, just never worked with my iPhone, glad it does actually work for some..

I was actually shocked they added Qi. It’s still a fairly new technology which isn’t something Toyota usually jumps on and there wasn’t that many Qi devices back in 2015. Course now we have higher watt Qi and we have the old slow one in the taco

Cruise Control Buttons? What do you think of the drive=mpg, sport=performance and ECT=gear lock idea? Is that not a something for everybody solution?

Doesn't work at all for my BlackBerry and there is no way the ECU controls that thing.

I didn't upgrade my Pixel 2, so no wireless charging. Honestly, I would have been just as happy with a USB port that could actually charge my phone. QI in the center console just means I can't ever put my random junk there. I need my random junk space....

To be honest, I would much rather just have Android Auto than wireless charging built in.

Yup mine also is mostly a junk holder. I’d take CarPlay / android auto for sure.

This is the first mention or review I've heard about the Blackberry and the Qi pad, so I can't say that I've heard an opposing argument or review for it

I do agree, if I had to choose, I would take AA. Oh well

As for storage, I sometimes put my EDC gun on the wireless pad. It works, it's a spot for it if it's not actively on my belt yet

No it is not. for everybody. Tacomas with manual transmissions do not have an ECT or S vs D mode

What is your EDC that is is too big/uncomfortable to just wear? Or do you carry IWB? My CZ2075 seems to fit pretty well even with the seat bolsters.
