You're not speaking for all AT owners either.

 

If ECT was used as a method to switch tunes for AT he would need another method to switch tunes for MT. More work to have 2 different control methods. By staying with CC, (or perhaps some combination of steering wheel buttons), he would have a common switching method and not have to develop 2 sets of control methods and instruction sets.

 

I'm not speaking *for* any owners. I'm just putting an AT tune idea out there so we can discuss...

 

I personally rely on cruise control and don't want to loose that functionality or have it associated with something drivetrain related. The AT stick is for controlling powertrain and therefore I'd think it would make more sense to use it to switch between MPG and performance modes. Drive and Sport - makes sense to me. Just my $0.02!

As for manual transmissions I could see how MPG could be the default and ECT would switch to performance. That would make sense too. Just my $0.02!

Yes, and if you buy the cheaper one you still need to buy the cable separately.

Lol @SouthtownTaco the MT doesn't have ECT. Which for the record, would have been obvious to anyone who takes the time for a little critical thinking. I'm not calling you out or calling you dumb...just saying.

ECT changes shift points. How on Earth could a manual transmission benefit from having the ECT button/mode then? Lol

Does anyone know what cable I would need to purchase separately if I am going to purchase the cheaper option? I purchased the package that came with a cord but it has been nearly 2 weeks and it has not shipped yet. Thinking of just hitting up that same day shipping on Amazon and purchasing the cheaper option so that the files get sent right away.

I ordered my cable from taxtric direct and it showed up in 3 days. It's not the fancy orange but it works.

Mat includes the Tactrix adapter because it has been tested and confirmed to work. You may be able to use another cable, but there is no guarantee it will work. I'm sure Mat will help as much as he can but you are kind of on your own. I doubt anyone here is going to be willing to suggest a different cable for you to buy.
