Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

If using another cable were not viable, why would they offer the option to purchase without it? I don't think what I was asking about is unreasonable. I have seen multiple people talk about doing the same thing, but I did not see what cable they were purchasing. I guess people are just supposed to wait 2 weeks with no update and not ask questions? Sorry, your feelings were hurt.

 

the option to purchase separately was due to supply issues with the shipments coming from tactrix and people complaining about lead times so people could source the tractrix adapter themselves.

 

So basically exactly what I was asking.

I asked a simple question about what cable/adapter was used so I could possibly look to find one and was told "I doubt anyone here is going to be willing to suggest a different cable for you to buy" like I was asking for some bootleg option that was frowned upon. Then when I ask why there is an option to buy without a cable, the explanation given fits exactly into what I asked. So you can call it what you want, but some smartass answers to a pretty easy question seem unneeded. If you don't want to answer, scroll on.

That's funny. It takes a lot more than that to hurt my feelings. You asked a question and I gave you an answer. I'm sorry you didn't like my answer.

The reason he has the option is for people that have tuned cars in the past and may already own it. It is also as @Shellshock said because of lead time issues from Tactrix in the past.

You didn't ask that question, so I didn't answer it.

Notice I said "Tactix adapter", and nowhere did I imply a "bootleg" alternative. There are plenty of quality J2534 adapters, but I couldn't guarantee they will work. Naturally if one wanted to figure out what a product was and where to find it they would turn to their search engine of choice.

I do find it funny you say you did not imply a "bootleg" alternative but you specifically said you doubt people would help me find the cable I would need. If that is not implying that I am doing something not recommended, I don't know what is.

My bad. I did not think it would turn into this either. Did not know that asking for what cable is used would bring this out. I will stop replying so the thread can chill.
