Personally, I’d spend the money for an official cable. Not worth risking it. But that’s me.

Say I’m 04B03, try to update to B04, brick my ecu. Do I flash the stock 04B03 or the stock 04B04? We have access to both with the new FM

Since the update to 04B04 failed, I would assume you flashed with stock tune for 04B03 or whatever ECU version you had prior.

I didn’t do any updating, now that I see how simple it is to fix I might try it

Anyone encounter their antivirus notifying them about a Heur.AdvML.B threat related to p5flash_V1.2.1.exe? Am i safe to block and delete the file or is it necessary for p5flash to function? Downloaded the new file manager on Monday. I have Norton antivirus and it just popped up when I started my laptop.

No, make an exception and allow it. You need P5Flash.....

Did you both follow the instructions? I'm pretty sure you missed a step or two.

Typically if all the buttons on P5Flash are grayed out its an indication of the software not being licenced. Check the System ID vs the one in the name of the reg file you received. You probably need to contact support to resolve the licensing issue.

read and reread so many times. Followed (so I thought) instructions to the letter. Got it to work for identifying System ID - as I went to a new computer. Had no issues on old Desk Top. Fresh start today so we will see.

I thought that may be the issue. Just got a new license do to computer swap. I checked and it appears correct, but I did send it along with SY ID back to Mat via Zendesk for conformation. now waiting.

Your antivirus “thinks” that p5flash is a threat. It is not. Create an exception in your antivirus to “allow” p5flash. If you’re using windows defender you’ll have to create an exception there.

Windows Defender will keep stealing your p5flash without letting you know it did it. I downloaded all the flash tools and a second later the list of files was shorter. Did it twice before I remembered. Added exception to the folder.

I guess I misread is the P5Flash greying out in Flash manager, or is all the buttons (Idenitfy Flashit, etc ) in P5Flash greyed out.

Windows defender likes to eat p5flash.exe if so exempt the folder c:\users\<user>\Toyota Flash Manager from Virus and Threat Protection and you should be good.

I finally had a chance today to update all my tune software, honestly, I think the original went smoother. Anyway, the question I have after a successful flash to 93 Base, every time I made a selection in the flash manager, i.e. identify, flash it etc. I got a "not responding" message and the spinning blue circle... The actual "flash" time barely took a minute, the lead up to that was about 5 min of waiting...

    anyone else notice this???

You have two feet? Use both of them. Normal for rock crawling with an auto. :)
