Okay, that’s the way I understood it initially. Getting lost in some of nuance, but it’ll click! Happy with my gearing for now so I’ll save that for down the road if/when I add some weight/bigger tires. Tune sounds right for now.:typing:

I was going to regear from 3.91’s to 4.3’s but after the newest tune I have been truly enjoying the stock gearing more than ever

I’d never go back from the 4.30s. I’d just like it not to hit 3rd on the mountains. Not sure if that’s going to require 4.88s, custom tuning, and/or boost.

May just be the way it is for now.

I could see regearing if you are constantly using it in the mountains, I’m still goin to do the 4.3’s someday. Running the desert and forest roads though this Taco drives nice

Of course not having the 2nd cats and the magnaflow muffler made it drone pretty bad. Got that all tweaked so it sounds more stock now. Not as cool but better for my sanity.

Try the “base” tune for now. It’s dandy

When I flashed the TSB several months ago I used TS 12.20.024. You need to replace the mainmenu.exe in the program folder after it’s done installing and then put in the key when you first launch TS. The AT CUW file worked with this version of TS with no problems. Didn’t even need to open TS. I just launched the CUW file and just followed the prompts. It was super easy.

I'm sure Mat can do a custom tune but have you tried ECT, S-mode, or gear lock yet? If I were running 285s I would be looking at gears to compensate for the taller final drive ratio.

I’m trying 87 base tune. Non ECT for now. The truck runs great when driver controls pedal. Sometimes when getting on the highway it’ll shift to 5th for a second then pop back to 4th while accelerating, I’m guessing that might be due to the angle of the on ramp I take daily.

With adaptive cruise set I’m still experiencing close to the same results as stock. By close I mean the truck will still shift to 4th to keep the speed when it slows down, but I’m not sure if anything can be done about that. I wish we had the ability to adjust the droop, I feel like the truck has a hard cruise set up from OEM.

So far it’s way better than stock, and several people in St Louis that were on the fence about purchasing have made the leap! So that’s good news too.

Yeah, sounds like you might be in S mode.
That sounds more like an adaptive cruise tuning problem than an issue with OVTune. If you are feeling lucky, you can ask the dealer if there is anything they can do. If you are feeling ambitions, you can play around with Techstream and see if you can make adjustments.

456 gears. OV tune. Lift. 285/70/17 tires
Currently running the base 87 tune with 285-70-17 tires, 4:56 gears and ECT defaults to on. It drives close to perfect for me and getting great mpg. I do like the performance tune but initial tip in is just a little to aggressive especially in ECT mode for me. My truck just shifts better in ECT with all tunes I have tried. Mpg is about the same as when ECT is off. Matt did a great job with this.

I think it shifts a hair early with 285's here too ....ECT helps a lot and i'm pretty content. 91 Base here

I believe there are additional changes required for shifting when using adaptive cruise that mat hasn’t completed yet.

Correct, we need to make some modifications to the shift routine for trucks that use adaptive cruise. So we will be looking into picking up our own R&D Truck with Adaptive cruise to do so.
