Did you have the same shutter running 1.01? I'm not feeling any shutters, really - I guess you occasionally get that wheel hop feeling that's probably what you're referring to but it's rare that I notice.

Yes. thats the feeling. its only hard acceleration in first I feel it. Ive had it from the very beginning, stock, day 1 with 11 miles on the truck
I think its either torque converter lockup, or lack of, or something to do with traction control. Possible its timing but i have no misfires and Im not sure whats normal timing changes so i can only speculate.

Alright so we've got 2 positive reports, 1 scary one, and one Windows Defender bricked ECU so far. :) This will be an interesting day to watch unfold!

I did do the 15 miles of light driving, and that's where I felt it. It never went away.

I had no shudders at all except for a slight slight bit with 1.01B.

But, my idle vibration is gone!

Still going to go home and flash back to stock. Then wait for @OVTune to further instruct me. Hopefully he sends a data logger. I have OBD fusion app but it doesn't update THAT quick. I'll still record the shudders with it.

Just like to note that Mat is continuing to investigate, looking at log files, as well as providing a bench flash option to avoid having to get a whole new ECU, so he's definitely addressing the issue even though this was something outside of his control. Great to see that level of support considering how many things he's having to juggle here.

I'll keep you all updated. Just please please please make sure if you have windows defender (7,8,8.1,10) you disable realtime protection before you flash.

Probably not a bad idea to disconnect from the internet as well, I'd think... download your file, disconnect, turn off defender, flash away

I got about 50 miles on the tune with about 30 on the highway and 20 stop and go traffic. With 1.02 I still feel the slight hesitation from a dead stop to WOT until the rpm's kick in then it goes like a bat out of hell. I dont feel any shuddering at any speed or rpm's and haven't since i got my CPS replaced pre tune. It's Still back and forth between 4 & 5 gear in D mode but I also carry a lot of weight in aftermarket accessories and mods so this is compounding the shifting Issues for sure. I Wonder how it would feel on a stocker, rocket ship? Over all pleased with the initial 1.02 tune but I am sure a re-gear is necessary in my case with all the weight. Will do sport and ECT mode on the way back home tonight a report back.

@dYL0n It's your exhaust. Lack of backpressure is not playing well with OV's exhaust timings.

You're heart is into modding, I can tell. But you picked one of the worst platforms to do these style of mods to. Mods on this truck are usually off-roading or cosmetic. What you need to be in is an STI, Genesis Coupe, a Z, maybe even an Si. Not a Tacoma.

I understand why you may think this, but this is kind of not true. Yes I do like mods, but I promised myself I wouldn't touch the engine / exhaust. But coming from the 4.0 Tacoma, the 3.5 sucks. We all know that. SO I went with the OV Tune. It did help the truck. Then Mat constantly said the exhaust on the stock truck is terrible:

So don't blame the exhaust "back pressure"

So i went with the most free flowing exhaust I could find.

I just want that 1gr engine feeling again.

If i was into tuning, I wouldn't have sold my Stage 2 Audi S5 and got a tacoma. I had enough fun with that thing, but I never found the time to drive it like it wanted to be. I did enough to that car. Exhaust, BBK, Coilovers, Smaller Pulley, CAI, and APR tuning.

If I want to tune/mod the engine of a car again, im going to get a RS3.

That being said, I'm waiting until @OVTune is back at work to figure out what the problem is.

Understood. Keep us posted on your findings.

I will flash mine during lunch. I didn't have time before work yet. I'll report back as well.

@dYL0n is Absolutely right and I commend you for taking these leaps. I want to see your setup work because I am so close to getting a matching setup. That exhaust scares me though with fitment and now this. Just drive to Cali and work with Mat on the dyno for an exhaust tune. :burnrubber:

Thanks! I'm going to download techstream soon and try to do it again by 3pm central time.

Unless the datalogger is ready

Also, I do have URD SPEC-U exhaust which is really free flowing.

Drove 20 miles. 10 very easy on the throttle, stopped and filled back up with some VPower Shell, 10 more driving it more aggressively. Wasn't able to get above about 55 with traffic / speed limits (which I was already well over...) I'll provide a more in-depth review in the next day or 2.

    Initial impressions:
My truck didn't shake at all, perhaps the TRAC shutter but nothing concerning
Initial throttle response down low was actually quite sluggish but seemed to be getting better before I returned home
Power band felt a bit less linear - more of a noticeable jump as it reached 3-4k RPMs
Shifting is smooth and quick... but also seems to be wanting to race up to 5th / 6th in D more so than you normally experience after a reset.
Damn thing takes off like a banshee (for a truck) at WOT. I have a steep hill I like to use for these tests and it definitely pulled it with EASE.
Idle once warm is slightly lower than 1.01 (seems to want to be around 500 vs. 550).
Idle isn't even noticeable anymore though - literally when stopped at a light I looked down a couple of times to make sure the engine didn't cut out on me it was so quiet and smooth.

All in all will need some drive cycles to get a feel for the throttle changes and changes in shifting. But initially I can say it's an improvement over 1.01 - but how much I can't quite say yet. Like others I wasn't floored by 1.01 until I had 1-200 miles on it when I became an evangelist. time will tell w/ 1.02

    Thanks for 1.02!
    Feels lighter and quicker.
85 miles so far on it.

URD SPEC U exhaust no problems here nor with 1.01B.

Will it ever be possible to remove front cat MIL lamp? Been wanting to order URD Power Extractors to replace catalyctic in exhaust manifold.

    Thanks.
