Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

This truck has done this since new. It started at 500 miles.

I made myself a custom plate. Starts a lot of conversations with other tacoma owners at the gas stations.

 

My truck ran fine on 87 base. After 300miles I switched to 91 base to see what the added power would feel like. Truck never ran right. Throttle response was weird, shifting was weird etc. Didn't want to bother mat (since I'm waiting for performance mode) switched back to 87 base and it runs good again. Quirky. Hopefully 87 Performance and 91 performance work for me.

 

These trucks are so tempremental

 

I've been putting this off for a while but should probably give it a check. I'm assuming the transmission temp is easy to read via TechStream? Oddly enough I never had the clunk until recently when I loaded the latest version of 1.05. Whatever the case, the clunk itself doesn't bother me so much as the possibility of the transmission being low on fluid and burning itself up over the long haul.

 

@OVTune can you integrate the ability to clear the necessary learner values through the tuning software?

 

That’s an understatement. @MOC221_ can write us a book on the subject lol

 

The procedure was posted here in the last couple pages. It’s easy no matter how you do it. When we did my dads truck we jumpered the pins

 

Did you run at least a tank of 91 before you switched to the 91 tune?

 

Found the instructions and read through them. Pretty straight forward. I'm going to score some WS fluid and them give her a shot. Appreciate the info from all of you guys who have contributed.

 

How many miles do you have on the 87 base tune?

 

About 150

 

Just loaded 87 performance. Holy tip in. Lol

 

If the symptoms don’t calm/go away after 200+ miles it could just be your rig doesn’t like a certain tune. I’ve ran both the performance and base tune in mine. Both are great, just depends what style you prefer

 

She hasn't liked an 87 tune yet.

 

I ran two full tanks of Supreme 92 (oregon) before flashing my first tune which was 1.05 87 base.

 

Bummer. It rocks better than any before for me.

 

It runs perfect on 91 base, But on 93 octane. we don't have 91 here.

 

Just purchased the tune. How long does it take to receive the tuning package? Thanks.
