I just made the godawful sin of stating I'm not 110% committed to my Tacoma ("He would buy another brand? Oh heaven to Betsy, pass me a fan before I faint") if I can't get it the way I want it (hopefully with a version of this tune at some point) so I'm not surprised that I was mocked by the "brand loyalist brigade." I find it funny so I'm happy to have a little fun with it. I'm sure everyone here, silly brand/model loyalties to inanimate objects notwithstanding, are fine decent people.

Don't feel bad. I'm probably going to ditch mine for a Bronco if it's cool when it comes out. If I decide to keep my truck, I plan on buying a Lexus RC-F.

I would love to take a test drive with this tune before I take the plunge. Anybody near the south orange county area that would be willing to meet up and take me for a quick spin?

Im also experiencing the studdering.. first time ever.
Seems to be are 1500rpms when I was slowly rolling during some traffic.
I thought I was up to date on the flat update from Toyota but apparently I'm wrong.

Shifting just got weird. Upshifting too early and holding the gear long enough that part throttle input decelerates. Throttle feels like it's not responding but it's just bogging bad.

@OVTune... Let me say first that I know you're busy. I'm order #2036 and in no rush whatsoever to get V1.02 of this tune. With the issues that are cropping up today I think I'd be more than happy with V1.01b, or waiting the weeks or months until the current problems are worked out.
I have no idea if the changes to the valve timing or the changes to the transmission maps are the culprit in 1.02. But maybe it would be better to release those changes separately.. like a V1.02a with valve timing changes, then a 1.02b to add the revised transmission maps. Maybe then it would be easier to see where the problems arise.

I got rid of my 2015 4Runner because I thought it shifted alot. I would still have it if they were available in an MT.

I think with what I am hearing from some people about shifting (exclude the stuttering issue this is easily fixed) is that I am going to set 1.02 features with 1.01B shifting maps. None of these issues popped up with the truck on the dyno but at the same time I can't put a couple hundreds miles on the dyno and test all sorts of factors that everyone is in their daily commutes. I tested various types of driving but unfortunately how a car reacts at low speed on a dyno isn't the same as on the street.

So I will be rewriting all files with 1.02 + 1.01B shift settings and will leave shift controls untouched until a later time. The issue is that the learning maps just reach their hands too deep into everything else that controls how the truck drives, including how throttle reacts.

I think doing this way will have the truck perform as good as it can get WITHOUT messing with the long talons of the learning cycles.

I will have this done as quickly as humanly possible

    Smart move imo

Maybe shift update becomes a future feature where it's tested vis long term road test. Vacation out here in Kansas (lol) for a week and my truck can be your rental.

Can you give us two versions of 1.02 to try? One with the 1.01B trans map and one with the 1.02 trans map. There has been positive reviews of the 1.02 shifting and I'd like to try both, with no stuttering.

    That sounds PERFECT!

The only other thing to consider... If the transmission maps and "learning" cycles prove to be too difficult or impossible to control, maybe it would be possible to force it to "forget" what it's learned previously... every time the engine is started? It would be like always driving a newly flashed truck.

Sure. This is what is proving difficult. Some people say it's good, others say it's not. I just want everyone to be happy and enjoy their truck.

Ok, my turn to screw it up.

I did not notice I had turned the ignition "on". I did not have the ignition in accessory like it is supposed to be. I was in the middle of the flash when I noticed. The flash finished and figured I would re-flash after putting it in accessory.

The truck does start, but Identification now fails and I can't re-flash 1.02. It also can't read since both read and write starts off with identification. The read and write operations fail since the identification step fails.

@OVTune - did I read that there is a way to force the write w/o the identification step? How do I do that?
