This makes me excited. Gears are on the list of things to do...over the winter when my 2-wheel dirt bikes are parked. Keep up the great work!!!

So I just spent the last half an hour writing a really bad ass review/experience of converting from 04B03 to 04B04. Than flashing to 1.05 87 Performance. My first sentence said “ Mat, Do not take offense to this”.
It’s been quite a few beers later and for everyone’s benefit it was deleted.
All I can say is, Someone musta pissed Mat off to have that Tip_in. Besides that, it’s awesome. The funny thing is, it’s only like 5mm or less of pedal movement. After that initial wallop everything else along the range is fantastic and totally predictable. Hell, I’m just glad my truck starts after doing some of this stuff. However, now that I think about it, that Tip-In is totally unsafe if my wife grabs my truck to run an errand. Take care. And Thank you to everyone that fed me bits and pieces to help me along the way. Especially Shellshock.
***EDIT*** This morning I realized my Auto ECT Mode was on during my initial drive home on 1.05 87 Performance. Turned it off this morning for my "To Work" drive. In my opinion the Tip-In is fine. Not harsh at all. Infact it's milder than how I had my Sprint Booster set. The only thing I noticed was quick shifting. Moved up to I think 4th gear by the time I hit 35 driving easy in traffic and lugged a bit. We'll see what it does after a couple hundred miles.

Good to hear. Give the tip-in a 100 or so miles and see if you still feel the same. Mat wouldn’t take offense to that

So I gave in an bought a new tablet so don't have to worry any more error messages for the new Flash Manager. This means I need to start the registering process for the new Flash Manager from the beginning right?

Also just installed my G-fab Tek air box mod and installed a TRD intake flow accelerator. Wow what a difference! Combined with the 93 Performance Tune, man i have a hot rod now.......lol. Might do the throttle in the future.

In my experience of the tune, the tip-in has mellowed out so it’s not as touchy now after about 300 miles. The overall performance and ‘feel’ of the tune is much improved over day 1.
Allowing it to settle is a good strategy.

    Agreed ^^

@KanPanic - something to consider if you go 5.29's.

Toyota themselves offered a rear diff lock any time option. It wasn't dangerous, didn't blow anything up or break parts. It was super useful. I used it a lot and it got me out of places that other people needed 4WD. Sand, slippery boat ramps, anywhere you might lift a wheel, hell, even a steep grass hill. It was standard on the Prerunner 2WD Off Road. Toyota didn't think it would kill anyone. I really miss it and would love to have it back on my 3rd gen. I'm sure a lot of people would.

Yep. I think 2600rpm 6th gear is the magic number for autos. 2600 in 6th (at) is 105mph. With 34’s and 5.29’s 2600rpm in 6th (at) should be ~86mph.

Do you still have power above 2600rpm with 4.88 and your stock diameter tires?

I have almost 500 miles on 1.05 performance gear lock 91 octane with 33" tires, and the tip in has not changed one bit. It's still way too aggressive. You really have to pay attention to the very first ~10% of the throttle. The tip in doesn't change at all, but the driver gets used to anticipating lunging forward at the slightest touch of the gas pedal. So its the driver that changes, not the truck/tune.

There's also a very sluggish area around 3000 RPMs when trying to accelerate using let's say 40%-50% throttle. The truck totally falls on its face. I was watching ignition advance yesterday, and it was actually dropping way down at those RPMs. I'm guessing that was done in order to reduce the 3500 RPM surge that was present in previous tunes and stock tune.

What are people doing about the low RPM stumbling that is present? Any time I'm cruising at a constant speed and the RPMs drop to 1100-1200 (way too low for a "performance" tune IMO), I get some stumbling/stuttering/bumpy road feeling. I need to try the logger to see what is going on, but for the time being, I have to use S4 around town in order to keep the RPMs up.

Next step is to flash the regular 1.05 91 tune.

Did you clear ECU values before you flashed?

When I did the very first flash of the 87 performance tune (a few weeks ago) the tip in seemed very aggressive, but at the time I didn’t clear values. Since then I have tried the 87 base tune and am now back on 87 perf.

The tip in is way better after clearing ECU values this time. I drove it in traffic to and from work yesterday. Seems great to me. Resetting the ECU had a big difference whereas the TCU seems unnecessary

Yes. The throttle is even more sensitive with ECT on, but it does hold RPMs a bit higher before upshifting.

Yes I cleared ECU and TCU values.

The 33’s are the problem. Needs gears. Put in SMode an row your own gears for a day. The power is definitely there. I am waiting for custom tune options and will log my manual shifts and request custom shift points once Mat can support. If that doesn’t work, I’ll bite the bullet for gears.

I have been on 1.05 87 base with ECT anytime mod, for 3 tanks of 87, I have experienced the same surging, actually on the previous 1.05 also...I had a car merge on the interstate in front of me at low speed, and had to downshift to get around him, once it finally downshifted, and was accelerating, it was surging through 3rd gear until it upshifted.
