    Hmm...I haven't spent much time with 87 base (~200 miles) and 87 performance is brand-new to me -- but I don't think tip-in is aggressive at all. Starting to wonder if the tune applied correctly, because while I THINK it feels different, it might not be. I guess I need to flash GL to know for sure....

    When I went to 91 perf with GL, I did not clear learned values and I had tried numerous other versions in the past 1.5 yrs. I did clear going back to 91 base. I might try 91 perf again along with clearing.

    If you cleared the ECU the tip in does seem less aggressive than when I first flashed it without clearing anything

    New to TW and new Taco owner. Apologize for not having read all the 2100+ pages of this thread, so if I'm redundant, please excuse me. Just took delivery of my new TRD 4x4 Sport Access cab automatic and was initially very underwhelmed with drivability. Hunting and shifting like crazy, anemic/delayed throttle response and pathetic gas mileage... After driving a 2013 FJ for 175k miles, I guess I was expecting similar performance and mileage (consistently got 19.5-20mpg average with spirited driving). First tank of gas was on the dealer, 87 octane. Struggled to break 17 mpg ( ~320 miles,mostly all highway). 2nd tank is 89 octane and after 100 miles I'm showing 19.4 mpg average (again, mostly highway miles) but more importantly driving is 100% better. Almost no hunting, improved throttle response, will actually accelerate without downshifting (with a gentle squeeze as long as the engine is turning 2k rpm). Its probably way too soon to draw any permanent conclusions but what I'm wondering is will using a higher octane fuel address so many of the drivability issues that are frequently discussed? Are most people who've downloaded this tune still using 87 octane? Anyone else with similar experiences? Although initially disappointed with the drivability, I do love my taco and its the best color! Thanks.

    V-LED low and high beam headlights. OVTuned
    Discovered early on before the time that 91 octane improves the truck quite a bit. 11.8:1 compression cannot survive on 87 octane. The .edu has to do all sorts of things to keep detonation from happening.

    The Ford 3.3 has a 12.1:1 and is even worse...

    Yeah, my guess is it must be knocking like hell on 87, causing timing to be pulled, and leaving so little power that the tranny is trying to just keep the damned thing rolling.

    Yes, his tires are 265/75R16 load range E, but up to this point, his gearing is stock.

    On 87 Performance tune and 87 gas. Knock feedback is from -2 to -4 degrees during daily commutes. Is that a lot?

    Yes - very normal to see it between -2 to -4 for me but it will pull/advance timing based on that. Depending on my driving situation (city / highway) my knock correction will be running at 26-29degrees on 93 octane. When it gets lower than -5 is when so can hear audible knock and you’ll notice the timing pulled down to get it back to -3

    I loose throttle responce at highway speeds, it wont raise revs or down shift untill im at about 85% throttle or so. Anyone else having dead peddle issues on highway?
    91octane gearlock tune.

    I would see a -5 occasionally right after flashing but never lower. My knock correction runs 20 to 24.
