I've seen the stock tune allow 6th gear on a speed as low as 42Mph/1100RPMish. (Stock truck) I think we all would think simply raising the "minimum speed/rpm for gears 4-6" would probably result in a better drive experience. The thing we learned though that the transmission isn't shifting based on a single value (speed, rpm, etc) , but a combination of 3 or 4 values.

That means per say, if we try to edit the table to eliminate something like 6th gear at 1100 RPM, we may in fact remove other valid conditions where we may want 6th, or 5th. Its one of there reasons right now that 1.05 in some cases goes 5-3 or 3-5 because to try to use 5th and 6th more some valid ranges where you might want 4 are no longer possible. Since there is no upshift or downshift tables its proved to be a difficult thing to tune. Fixing one shift causes another shift case to be worse.

As wiljayhi said. If you flash a gearlock tune you can just set it to S3 in town and let it shift itself to 3rd and it will stay there. If you need more speed just push it up to S4 and you’ll have all you need in town. You’ll be able to easily keep your rpms where you want them. IMO the truck drives very well this way. I’m running 93GL and get 20-21 fwy and 18 in town.

I think the easiest solution would be disable TC locking at RPM, say below 1500.

All this time, I've been waiting for the performance tune and gear lock tunes to be available for my cal 04B03. Thanks to all of your resources, I went back and learned how to update my calibration from 04b03 > 04b04 via techstream.

After that, I downloaded and installed the 04b04 1.05 87 gear lock tune and installed it successfully. After the initial drive, WOW, the tip in is much more prounounced than the 91 base tune. I kinda like it! As always, it's too soon to judge the driveability until at least 500 miles are logged, so time will tell.

In case you're wondering, I'm on 35's, 4.88 gearing and fully armored dual cab long bed weighing in at 6250 lbs!!

Reposting the previous post to help with techstream...credit goes to @speedtre and @bshammer0 for the detailed info

    Outstanding news Mat - thanks!

Will there be a post on the OVT website when they drop, or just keep checking your posts here?

Thanks for the great work - the only reason I still have this vehicle is because of your contribution to the community.

Been on the 93 Performance tune (all stock TRD Pro besides a drop-in KnN filter and the G-fab Tek CAI mod). Love the truck now! Getting about 19.5-20 mpg all around. Truck shift smooth with great acceleration off the line. 99.9% better then stock. The only thing I'm starting to worry about is idle surges when backing up and then putting the truck into D. Have about 1 1/2 tanks on this tune. I hope it's still settling in and will go's away. Besides that that truck is AWESOME!

Mat mentioned this is caused by the way the ECU calculates demand. Short of re-writing all the shift tables, there is no work around. He did say this is in the works, but who knows how long that could take. I would expect some more major improvements throughout the year. If he is able to get the shift tables written from scratch, it may be the biggest improvement we’ve seen yet.

He also said the same tables for upshifting are the same tables for downshifting The upshift points affect the downshift, so that is in the decision where to code it.

Here’s a total shot in the dark, does anybody have a code or something for the seatbelt chime that I could load into my truck via flash manager?
Could this be a possibility or am I dreaming

You can do it with Techstream but not with current version of FM.

Ah Yes, this techstream I keep hearing about I could barely use flash manager
anything more involved I think would be an impossibility

My offer from a while ago still stands. If you feel like going for a drive I can meet you somewhere along 95 or 15.

We can get you updated to 04b04 and do the customizations in TS. I can get it set up on your computer if you want too.

I have noticed this as well. One other thing that really bothers me is going up a slight incline at 70-75mpg and 2000 rpm there is a huge dead zone with the petal where pressing it down more and more does absolutely nothing. Starting off at 15% throttle maintaining 70-75mph at 2000rpm up the slight incline. I want to increase speed slightly or just put more petal in to maintain speed and NOTHING happens until about 90% throttle and then the thing jumps from 2000 rpm to almost 6000 rpm and the thing screams and rockets forward. This drives me NUTS!!

Don’t think they’ll use techstream to turn off the buzzer, they’ll say “it’s a safety thing and we can’t disable it” because it’s a liability thing for them

Testing begins in April for our new EROM 1.06 patch.
    - Should be available by end of summer / early Fall 2019.
    Modifications to EROM -

I think this is going to solve every...every problem left with the transmission.

    - Complete redesign of the entire shift control. From the ground up.
    - Dedicated Upshift and Downshift tables for drive modes With unique Downshift Tune features (TBD):
    D > Singular
    ECT > Singular
    4Low > Singular
Modification to Shift table size allocation >
    Stock x13
    EROM > x16
Modification to shift Torque size allocation >
    stock 17x17
    EROM > 25x25
Revision of stock code to EROM shift code (see below graphs and code generation of OEM)

Many more features are also being incorporated. This sums up only what's being done to some of the transmission.
