I went from 87 perf > 87 base > 91 base. This isn't official, but when I switched to 91 base from 87 base I cleared the learned values and it seemed to have desired results quicker. I'm not even through the first tank on 91 base and I am seeing better MPGs and it feels so much smoother right out of the gate. And it has pretty well plateaued with the better all around performance. The last few trips I have made are all getting about the same MPGs, whereas the base was always changing for 2-3 tanks before finally plateauing. I did not clear values between 87 perf to 87 base or from stock to 87 perf.

In my experience, it appears that clearing the values may just help get you to the promised land faster. Again, not official, but it has been my experience. It definitely doesn't hurt anything. I'd recommend trying it.

Clear Learn Value button will be added to flash software so it will just becaome a new standard in the future to cancel out any "possibilities"

OVT new avatar is throwing me off. I am so used to glancing over most posts until I see a red PRO in the avatar. Now I need to retrain my eyes.

At first I was like "Who this fool talking about a button clearing learned values?!?". Then I realized it was the all mighty him self :pccoffee:

I don’t have that many hills here in Florida but my trans temps are about the same towing or not 188-196 and about 2-5 degrees less after the cooler. What I really like is being around 3k RPM at 70mph. A lot less than I was on stick tune.

    Answer:

Week 1: "I would not pay $700 for any tune! That's ridiculous!"

Week 21: After trolling threads and calling people stupid, buys tune on the down low.

Week 22: Falls in love with tune.

Week 23: loves the tune so much, they would pay even more for it. Posts about their revelation.

Mat said only if having issues. But I don't think it hurts anything if you have the capability.

Trying to do my initial install on the truck but having issues. I have it all installed on the computer and registration key. When I hook the truck up and do the p5 utility flash and then hit identify, I get a stopped working message. Any ideas?

The temps once warmed up driving around town/highway stay in the 190's no problem.

The hills I have to tow up and over to go camping are about 4,500 ft of elevation rise, all at freeway speeds. Trailer is a camper, maxing out at 5,000 lbs. During the tow up the steep grades I saw trans temps in the 240's. Since that first tow, I replaced the transmission fluid (smelled burnt) and had an aftermarket trans cooler installed in line with the stock one. This aftermarket one is at least 5 times the size of the stock one. The aftermarket cooler helped keep one of the trans temps down, but not both. However, the aftermarket cooler really helped the cool down time. Once I step off of the gas, the temps drop back under 200 within seconds.

My question is whether or not the performance & gearlock tunes are playing with the torque converter to the point where it's causing the transmission to excessively heat up during heavy towing.

Make sure the ignition is in the run position without the engine running.

If you are having issues, you should submit a ticket

    Support@ovtune.zendesk.com

Also how many miles did you have on the tune?

@M1Awolf Had to reinstall the software and working now. New problem though. My truck is a 2017 with 04B01 and that file doesn't show on the ovtune software. What next? Thanks!
