I figured, hence why Im waiting for the 4.88 final drive shift table to make my life complete. Will that come with the speedometer adjustment? How are you going to make those files? Would be super tedious to write a custom table for each tire size and final drive gear. Considering Toyota has like 16 of them that the TCU constantly jumps between. One shift table to rule them all please!

I must be losing it.... I did have Performance downloaded and I felt it was too aggressive.
Flashed Base this afternoon and Gear Lock. Base certainly took and I enjoy the trucks behavior better .
(but will miss the oomph of Performance) And I could have sworn Gear Lock took too....
Guess I'll have to check that again tomorrow. o_O

It’s a symptom of these trucks. Before OVtune my 2016 had it uphill everyday at a certain part of my commute. Now it’s drives 10X better, with 43k on it, but...

    ...I’m still gettin those 4.88’s

    and the 4.88 tune

How much uphill? How fast are you going?

    It’s not a diesel

Gear lock is not an a la carte option. It’s part of performance+gearlock. If you flashed base, then gearlock, you ended up with performance+gearlock.

Does anyone have this thing where sometimes when already driving, stomping on the pedal doesn't cause a downshift and it instead accelerates steadily although relatively fast?

I had this in stock and tsb and though the tune took care on it?

Tune makes this happen way less but it's still there. When you do feel the downshift then it is a huge difference in acceleration vs not ds'ing.

Seems to happen more commonly when going up hills, and right after turning into a corner.

On the way to work its steep, but 4th is perfect for it, what baffles me is that the gas pedal is doing nothing for 70% and then hits third gear with full power. On the way home the on ramp is long and a gradual climb, Im going 60mph and if its in D it will bounce back and forth between 5th, 6th, lock, unlock. Put it in S5 or ECT and its happy. I had a 6.4 diesel before the Taco with a straight pipe, it was a coal burner, damn, so many poor souls covered in black soot whenever i stomped it.

Yah the throttle response is definitely not cable. The programming of S vs D is weirdly better. I’ll bet a 32” tire drives a lot different than a 33” in the shifting and RPM behavior

I’m on 265/70/17’s with 93 GL tune and throttle response is better for my truck than 91 was,but nothing like the old cable throttled cars was. That’s why so many people like Pedal Commander. On the Sport #3 setting if you touch the pedal you’re gone. However the 93 tune in gearlock can fly-for this truck- in first, second and third.IMO.But I’m not a stock exhaust and that made a pretty big difference on my truck to begin with.

Ran 1.05 87 Perf for 325 miles, tip in settled down some, adjusted driving habits some ran good.
Flashed 87 Base, ran 317 miles, gets up and goes like when I had the 1.04 91 oct/93 gas. In
Houston traffic I don’t even need ECT. Truck accelerates better than the 1.04 91tune with 93 gas.
Cruise control perfect, got rid of that gear searching thing when going uphill....now it’s super smooth.
Can’t say it’s changed my mpg.....it’s about the same 16 mpg.
87 Base runs great, plenty of acceleration!
