Agreed.....on 91 gearlock and the tip in isn't too bad at all, just learn to finesse it, that's all. 91 is a little higher down here in southern California, but typically it's only 20¢ more a gallon than 87. The extra $4 or $5 a tank are worth it to me.

    It’s just display with hyper

When mat finalizes the stuff for tires and gears, the ecu will use that data

It's not so much a performance issue as it is a tuning tweak. It's like the difference between a full Kevlar clutch disk vs a metallic 4 puck disk - they both handle high HP, but one is only good on the track the other is still streetable. These Tacomas aren't dedicated drag cars, so it should still be able to provide higher HP/Tq numbers without whiplash from every stop, or looking like a total knob driving in stop and go traffic. Also, rock crawling or semi technical off-roading is absolutely impossible on the performance tunes.

The base tune DOES show mpg improvement (very hard to get on my truck). Performance tunes likely won’t show much for most people because they aren’t designed for that

@OVTune I noticed page 1 showing the updated trans shift perams. Is this the Tweaks you were referring to or are those still being worked on? Just checking to see if I missed a post.
    Thanks Mat!

It’s just seems like a lot to ask for out of a Tuner. He’s here trying to give people what they want and it’s so wishy washy. With more HP & Tq comes better throttle response which is why there are base tunes and performance. If you can’t drive the performance tune change the tune like changing your clutch. He’s perfecting a Tune and making it work on every truck while people want him to finesse current tunes to their particular preference. Just my 2 cents since I like the Tip in and want all the performance I can get NA is to save headaches and start a poll. Turbo cars and what not have to wait for power like some guys here ask. But supercharged vehicles give instant power.

Yes and no. Depends on the size of the turbo. Some spool very quickly down low in the rpm band

You are correct. My mind was on clutches and real performance vehicles lol. I mean we truly aren’t seeing a ton of power out of these trucks yet. You feel that throttle a lot more due to our suspension.

Those are your pussy t28s then runs out of breath at 5k.

People talk about the tune as if the taco turned into a bajan truck. My 2006 Honda pilot will still smoke my ovtuned taco any day.

You guys have your points, but the established power gains provided by OVT are not insignificant, and there are people out there who blindly pay three times as much money for a third of the numerically demonstrable benefits, because they think it's still 1990 when a simple intake had more of a massive effect.

Furthermore, the primary benefit/goal of the tune has never been to make power, it's to improve drivability. And that has absolutely been achieved. Go ahead and smoke your taco with your pilot. It's irrelevant because it's dumb, pointless, and so it does not matter.

If you need more power and to turn the taco into a race truck, hold out for the supercharger that Magnuson will never release, hold out for URD's kit (they already have a 2.7L kit available), or wait for the OVTT, which will use a turbo of respectable size.

Quit bitching about tip in. Anyways, I need to unwatch this thread. I'll be back when there are new updates. Have fun with the "i can't drive my taco because of tip in" questions. Got to be kidding me.

It’s not diff to control it, I was able to just fine. But thats just me and my truck. Some really made it seem like there was a turbo in there that instantly spooled up on the touch of the throttle. But since I’m a lazy driver, I eventually went to the Base tune. I can really see how why the perf. Tune is perfect for a truck with larger ties and armor.

An example of what we mean by on the fly map switching (upcoming)

On the Tundra, it will be by the tow button.

On the Tacoma it will be controlled by the Crawl Control Dial Selector

In the video you can see us running our *test mode* ignition table (locking ignition at 26* above idle)

So, when Tow (or crawl selector) is OFF > you're running "stock" tables (tuned, or can be left stock)

Press Tow button (crawl select on Tacoma) Will switch to new tables *seamlessly*

    example:
    (watch ignition)
I do appreciate youtube turning my video into potato quality.
