I have adapted by delaying my shift from 1st to 2nd. I just let it float for a while. I definitely understand what you are talking about though. Also, try throttle blipping to downshift. It doesn't feel right at all.

I too have a MT truck. The hesitation is real and it makes driving a stick hard. Forget double clutching, Rev matching, starting out smoothly, downshifting smoothly etc. There is a strong delay and dead zones in the rpm ranges and throttle response.

    Its very frustrating to drive.

SOOOOOOOOOOO..... anxiously awaiting driveability report on 1st tuned truck :tumbleweed:

Yeah yeah yeah, we'll get a pretty graph with wavy lines and numbers all over it too - which will be overanalyzed to death no doubt lol.

I agree, it's a bit sad when I can jump in my dad's old '69 roadster or '87 Porsche and they are both much, much easier to drive and shift smooth. That's 30, 40+ years and the shifting is smoother, the power delivery is predictable, the clutch pedal doesn't squeak, they don't buck randomly when slowing down to lower RPM's. Frankly, I let my dad drive my truck and he said he could hardly get one smooth shift out of it and he's been driving standard transmissions for I don't even know how long.

Give me a predictable torque curve, especially one that is better in the lower RPM range, give me predictable throttle input/output response, get rid of this ridiculous rev hang that shows up if I shift incorrectly by half a millisecond and I'll be at their door money in hand. Because with the other issues besides this, I'm almost ready to give up and just go buy an older truck that still has a throttle cable.

Totally right on that. Glad there's folks like the guys at OVtune that aren't satisfied with those regulations.

Will the sprint boost or pedal commander upgrades remedy this? Because I don't know if this weird feeling is due to me never driving a car without a throttle cable before or something isolated to the Tacoma.

I watched a few reviews on these particular upgrades and it seems that it helps with rev matching.

You're thinking of the GS-350 which has the 2GR-FKS like us. The 2GR-FSE is in the RC-350 and it doesn't use the Atkinson cycle.

    none yet/none planned! It's perfect!
I apologize if this has already been answered but does this get at least the same if not better gas mileage? Not willing to spend $760 for something that gives me better throttle response but worse gas mileage. Most tuners are made for performance, higher octane, more timing and less MPG.

I have a car with a tuner and it gets worse gas mileage.

That's kind of to be expected. You can't increase throttle response and expect the same MPG as the quick opening of the throttle multiplied over an entire tank is almost guaranteed to rob mileage which is why every eco mode I've ever experienced decrease throttle sensitivity (among other changes)

If the Truck can be retuned for more low end torque, especially around 2000rpm. It might get better gas mileage because it won't need to downshift out of overdrive. But in stop and go driving it should use more fuel.

High performance = more gas. It's simple.

The response does suck. It's not that the truck doesn't have power, cause it does but I've noticed that if I am going and I mash the pedal to get on it, the truck really has to think hard about what it's doing its like MASH...........Slight go.......... Then boom it goes! Like wtf!?! When I mash the pedal It should be maybe a milisecond delay then slam. It takes a good 2 seconds it feels. Course I only have 1 transmission tsb done. Maybe it's different with other people.

Not unless someone swapped it in there or its actually an RC F. 350 F has 3.5L V6...is why its called the 350. Is a 2GR-FSE which is same motor thats in our Tacos minus the atkinson stuff. RC F has 5.0 V8

I understand your point, I thought the F indicated the V8 version. Mercedes called the second generation of the E63...the E63... It was actually a 5 something liter a turbo motor rather than the 6.3

F sport is like a AMG appearance or M sport appearance package.
F is equal to to M or AMG proper.
