Throttle tuning has not been modified on 1.05.1, however tip in will likely feel different due to torque converter changes

Is the stumbling being referenced to an early up shift, and falling on its face for a bit, then downshifting and correcting itself? I don’t have that jerking or shuddering feel
I’ve got 4.88’s and experience and early shift to 4th, then it downshifts to 3rd and shifts accordingly. Other than that, that’s my only small issue. Love everything else about it haha

Yah I saw that. Different maybe, still way too much for me though. A couple said it was gone so I had to see for myself. Back to 93base 1.05.1 for me. See you guys at 2.0.

Dongle users can use tech stream.

    Go to

    Engine
    Utility
    Learning value reset

    Then

    Transmission
    Utility
    Reset memory

1.05.1 base 91 here. I guess I never realized there was a stutter going on and put it off to the shit roads around here. Much smoother at cruising speeds with 1.05.1. All is well so far, and I’ll report back once I have at least a few hundred miles on the time.

Note: I did reset learned values at both the ECU and TCU via techstream (dongle here) and the truck shifted awful for the first 20 miles or so. Throttle was also wonky. Don’t be alarmed, it goes away quickly after the ECU and TCU start learning values again.

This was consistent, and after thousands of miles.

Congrats on a 40 year IT career! That’s impressive and I hope you’re close to retirement. I’ve been developing software professionally since May 28 1999. I started work on a Friday and I was rather green back then. I manage a team now that develops investment software for a very large investment firm. I also followed the update directions and had to stop the truck to get the reset to work. Your suggestion was helpful to others - pay no mind to the troll that had worthless feedback. To keep this thread specific, I’m running the latest tune .1 93 base and it’s good so far. I drive a lot of hills in west Austin and it holds the gear now which makes me happy. The improved MPG is just the cherry on top.

I experienced this on 91 base (no 93 near me) as well for 2k+ miles. Recently flashed to 87 base with 91 fuel and after a full tank this behavior has been learned-away.

I'm not super educated when it comes to vehicles but I'll give it my best shot to describe what it was like and the best way I found to consistently replicate it.

Essentially when starting from a dead or near-dead stop, if I did not press the throttle the truck would barely inch forward. Fearing the sudden tip in, I would edge the throttle like spongebob does with his big toe in that one episode of, well, spongebob. The throttle had the tiniest dead zone of basically no response. As soon as I got far enough, the truck would lurch, rpms would jump up then back down. If you've ever driven with someone who smashes the throttle every time it was kind of like that; anyone who's in the truck has an annoying whiplash where your head hits the headrest. I found it was almost better to smash the throttle as it was a bit less likely to do the same jump-lurch. There'd still be a bit of a whiplash but not nearly as bad.

My brother was in the passenger's seat on one such occasion and he started giving me shit for not knowing how to drive.. "try being slower on the throttle, try waiting between letting off the brake and applying to the throttle, etc." He drove it on the return trip and immediately agreed that it was not user error. Truck drove/still drives great once it's already in motion.

Anyway I don't think it's the tune as much as it is something fucky with my truck, bone stock 04B04 offroad on 1.05. Love OVTune and excited to try 1.05.1.

    Upgraded to 1.05.1 87 Gearlock.

    Initial impression was very good.
Smoother shifting from the transmission and the difference is very noticeable. Previous tune 1.05 shifting rushed itself to 6th gear right at 45 mph. 1.05.1 held better shift points and was a bit more smoother and responsive to throttle inputs. Tip in for me felt smoother.

Awesome work from the tuners at OVTune.

Techstream and I didn’t get along to well. I never could get past the copy and paste part of the program files. When I would paste it never prompted me to rewrite files so then when I opened it up it would not accept the registry key I tried to paste. I’ll wait on Mat

Believe that happens because the learning process doesn't start until the engine coolant temperature is at 176*

Once that is reached, there's a idle learning procedure to follow that's in the tech manual. I've posted that somewhere in this thread back in the days.

I've noticed that if you don't follow those procedures, throttle is wonky and dangerous if you're pulling into traffic.

The next time I did a reset like that, I followed those procedures and did not have the crazy wonky throttle.

This must be why it's suggested to let the truck sit at idle for 10-15 minutes immediately after applying the tune.

Oh...not sure then. All I know is I experienced this on a rarity right after a fresh flash then it was gone for good

Exactly what mine was doing on 91 Base 1.05. I resisted the urge to update to the Performance tune when flashing 1.05.1 and stayed with 91 Base - that weird shift is gone. Running 33’s and stock gears.

Not correct. 105.1 tunes for dongle users are available. Click update and you'll see the tune options in FM. I just flashed 105.1 Performance 93!

What's not available is the clear learning values function.
