He’s a friend. At any rate this is a waste of time and mods watch this thread too closely

So if he never had any dyno results then the claims for torque and power are all baseless and hold as much water as the "gain 35% more horsepower plus 5MPG" for $24.99 ebay power chip. OVTune provided dyno results thereby solidifying his claim as a legitimate power mod. When you have a product that you know legitimately does what it claims then you back it up with facts.
My "nailed it" statement was more toward Turd Hawg's statement that it's easier to sell perception than zero gains. As I originally said, I DO believe that it smooths things out for driving which gives you the perception that it adds torque and power much the same way that adding an aftermarket intake smooths things out and increases noise giving people the perception that they add power. Fact is that an intake won't add power just like the DD exhaust won't add anything but smoother driving and sound. I DO also believe that with OV's power tubes and DD's exhaust (or most any other catback) that there will be a power increase in the higher RPMs mostly with the tradeoff being a loss of some bottom end torque.
and that's why I called it a hype train. You got the exhaust for a great deal so your helping your friend out by promoting his product. Sorry man, I promise you, I'm not trying to call you out and I'm not trying to be a dick at all but I just look for unbiased opinions for products. DD has started no less than 2 separate threads about his system but there is very little feedback in either thread from customers other than yourself and KTJO (who was also helping in developing the system) and all the requests by potential customers for dyno results to back the claims were completely ignored. Those are all red flags in my book and the reason people can be skeptical about products. OV has a whole thread created by customers giving feedback on how well his product performs. Truly unbiased.

You make some legitimate points and I understand your skepticism. You’ll notice that I said nothing about hp or torque gains. Only that it made the truck more driveable and it does.It would take a dyno to measure hp and torque. I’d be the first to agree with you about the OVtune. The main goal of which from what I can tell and what others have said is to make the truck more driveable. It has power. It’s just not used properly.
Does the DD exhaust solve all these problems? No,but it is an improvement over stock and Mat has made it better. I would never be so bold as to promote something so costly even for a friend.Imo all of this is too much of a personal thing. Some people love the tune and others sold their trucks because it wasn’t enough for them.
Some people will like the exhaust and others won’t.
I was not attacking you either. Just expressing an opinion. Thank you for replying in like manner

I would re-evaluate my definition of a friend if I got that for anything over cost, especially if I couldn’t afford it to begin with. Anyone remember the promotional video of the red truck taking a corner in 2 gears below where the truck should have been? Hilarious.

Just trolling at this point...need to change my name to skankhunt42. Go CAPS!

Anyways, can’t wait for the dyno results this/next week for ovtune, looking forward to new data.

I wouldn’t stoop to your level to even make a reply to that nonsense. Inksin made a proper response in a positive way and made some good points.

They will be tested on our own truck. in the next few days actually. Likely have results out this weekend :)

I don't have experience with Dirty Deeds exhaust on the Tacoma, but I can see another 10-15 hp being possible with full exhaust and tuning.

There is still one fact that is going to always limit total power possible out of this engine (without boost). The single exit port cylinder heads. No way to force more exhaust out of those unless porting is done.

Anyways this is a super busy week for us, if you don't hear from me via zendesk, we will get back to you asap.

Is it possible for other ECU calibrations than engine and transmission performance? Would anytime diff lock, fog lights be possible? High idle for winching?

Indeed. I’m still excited for the 4.88’s because when steep hills happen this thing still wants to jump around in gears from all the weight (4-500lbs) and 4.5 passengers. Rolling through the mountains from Stanley ID to Cascade ID wasn’t bad as long as I keep it under 65mph.

Too much liability I would think. I can see it now, someone blows up their differential and comes on here crying because it's OVtunes fault.

Hopefully somebody will come up with a solution. Imagine running a dual case setup and wanting to run on the single 4.70 case and not being able to lock the rear diff because the main case is in 4hi...

Air lockers are the solution

Lock when you want. Its what I have and you can do 2wd locked, 4 hi locked, 4 low locked..

If I bought any trim other than a TRDOR, then yeah.

    Makes sense.

Sure it's more of a limited use case but if your rear tire is slipping and you are in 2wd, then enabling the locker without first having to enable 4wd and all could get you traction quicker. I haven't used mine in 2wd other than to brag how I can go into 2wd locked lol
