Does a factory tuned 2019+ preform better than a factory tuned 2018?

naw its all the same for the most part. the later TSBs do perform better but still suck compared to the tune.

Possibly. If the 2018 have not had the TSB done, they might have odd charactistics still. But not sure at what point Toyota would have updated them from the factory last year, if at all. I did not remember when that TSB come out....

    Makes sense!

The guy in this briefly talks about it toward the beginning of the video. I guess he’s just talking about the tsb’s they did.

Bumping my question as I did not see an answer. @OVTune should I take my truck to the dealership to have it flashed prior to purchasing and installing 1.05.1 or 2.0?

While it isn't necessary, history has been the latest versions from OVT get released first. So if you don't, when 2.0 drops you maybe waiting for an older version to drop.

10-4, thank you for the info. I will try to make an appointment with the dealership. Any idea how to check which version I am on?

If you have the OVT kit, you can update it yourself. You just need to find a hacked version of TS that is compatible with the 2019s and the TSB software. That stuff tends to get posted in the Tech forum. A lot of us MT folks updated the ECU with the TSB software as it was a struggle to get the dealers on the same page.

On 87 base (less than 200 miles). Does anyone feel that the trucks acceleration, smoothness gets better after driving 50 miles or so? It seems like when I do a highway trip it’s a little rough at first then settles in each time. Maybe it’s in my head.

Between it feeling like settling in and getting used to the way it drives once settled I thing it has really smoothed out. One team, one dream!

Am I interpreting the new charts on page 1 that the TQ and the HP are both about 750% + higher at about 2200 rpm with the catless dump tubes with 91 octane ,over the Stock 04B04 with 87 octane ? If so this would be incredible . @OVTune

You see a similar thing with the tune and no dump tubes. This is the big complaint that we get for the 3.5l, esp from the 4.0l crowd. With the tune, that low end grunt is now there.

The dump tubes look like they will give a bigger hit through most of the rev range. Not to mention possibly getting 300hp at the wheels.

Pretty sure it was mentioned somewhere else in the thread that the odd behavior at the low end on the stock tune had something to do with how their Dyno was setup. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

This is because of the stock ECUs throttle and load limits for gears.

how much faster is 87 vs. 91 and is the extra $ in gas worth it?

Okay, I was putting money back for a cat back system, but getting excited about these catted dump tubes. Costs more, but sounds like a legimate gain, not just noise. Anybody put either non cat or cat yet?
