Count me in as one of the guys who confuses things. Truck did not like 1.02b, stutters, heaviness, odd shifting behavior were present within a few short drives and I flashed back to 1.01b.

Yes there are refinements in areas in terms of smoothness and an even more linear throttle response along the the intake/exhaust enhancements... but I'm not unhappy. 1.01b for me was and is pretty much butter. For some reason I do not feel any stutters on that release whatsoever, and while it doesnt bark quite as much as 1.02b it is predictable and most times shifting is unintelligible because transitions are so smooth.

While I believe and trust Mat's comments that 1.02 is an evolution of 1.01 there clearly is some truck-level variability at play here which is why some folks have rave reviews, others are indifferent, and in my case yanked it off to go back to 1.01.

Let's give him some time - datalogging will be key on this stuff but I do think giving newer folks access to 1.01 could be worthwhile if possible esp. if they only got 1.02 and aren't yet seeing the value for the price paid.

I've said it before, but very few people would be so ravenous about a tune if their trucks came from the factory with 1.01b and I'm sure by the time we get to the next release it will be even better.

    He's onto something here

Im gonna have to waive the bullshit flag on the no hills in Louisiana statement. You are in New Orleans which means you are 8 feet below sea level, so in theory you have to go uphill just to go to the beach. :D:D

My manual trans hasn't seen mpgs like that except when coming down the mountains from Tahoe. :( Truck in a fully stock form gets a dismal 16

45mph gets me 35mpg (definitely no hills in florida). 2WD ad road tires make a big difference

1.02 with 285's.........computations put it at maybe 18mpg. Not much better here. But hey, I'm not complaining.

3 inches, Ray10s, 34s, OVTuning, and driver mod for now.
So I may be straying off topic just a little, but am I the only one who has a chattery motor? It may very well be injector pulsing I'm hearing or more likely noise valvetrain, just curious if this is normal for these 3.5s?

The 3.5 is a very mechanical sounding engine. The high pressure fuel pump is mechanical, valves tic, (OHC sounds) injectors are self cleaning, direct and port injection... The whole things a crap ton of mechanical noise.

Normal for the cleaning cycle of the intake valves. I actually LOVE that sound cuz it sounds like a small diesel. Ya i know kinda gay to say that but whatever i still love that sound.

On the other hand when reving this mid range rpm, this is by far one of the ugliest sounding v6's ive heard.

I find it ironic that my wife's 2015 rx350 equipped with 2gr-fe sounds way more masculine than this dumb truck with 2gr-fks

I have a completely stock AT with 16k miles I could bring by sometime if you need to throw it on the dyno. I'm in Dana Point so wouldn't be too far. I've been following this thread for a long time, considering the tune, so I'm somewhat up to date. Let me know @OVTune

Not yet. Just doing a rant. Been sitting in the corner waiting patiently for the development to move along a little further before I get it.
