I thought I’d share a few observations from the last few weeks:

I drove 225 miles between St. Louis and Springfield, Mo. Speed limit is 70, but my gas mileage was actually better at 75. 75 put the engine closer to 2000rpm (just under) in 6th and it held the gear longer on hills. 19.6 mpg

Last week we were in Wyoming pulling the trailer. I found that my gas mileage was the same at 80, on the interstate, as it was driving 65 on back roads. Same issue; at 65 the transmission kept dropping down to 5th and at 80 the rpms were high enough that there was torque to hold 6th.

Running 87 base, but I have been using 91 octane when the price is right.

Also, when pulling the trailer, I found that when climbing a hill and the transmission finally drops to 4th, if I moved to sport, the I could manually bump it to fifth and avoid the hang in fourth and the hunting back and forth between 4&5. But, if I left it in fourth I’d start having torque converter slippage. Shifting back to drive would lock things back up.

Just sharing... everybody’s setup is different, as are our expectations. YMMV
I am so much happier with the tune than I was before.

Well, that’s fine. I commute 96 miles a day haha. I can live with that.

Just did the 1.05 flash....can’t wait to see what the glory is all about...also saw 2.0x as an option. Has anyone tried it?

in all the tunes I've installed, they always show in a similar way. 50 miles into town, and on that drive it's obviously the new tune file, but it's running in a non-optimized state... relatively rough and weak. then i park in town and it cools down for a few hours.

on the 50 miles drive back it's a whole different world with smoothness, power, and response right on it. been like this for me since installing the alpha 2yrs ago. but yes, ymmv.

So what happens if I selected the 2.0? Nothing?

Your observations don’t jive with mine while towing. Could you be a bit specific with towed weight and truck payload before I try using D to tow my setup? :D

I must say Mat is the Man! Responded To my ticket just now this soon after having a new baby! He must have a wonderful and understanding wife no doubt about that. I did not expect that at all and wouldn't blame him for shutting off all electronics for a few days. Thank you Mat from myself and all of us OVtuned tacoma owners. Good luck with the new baby and family from your Ovtune family!

Alright now I see what the fuss is all about. Just did a 75 mile trek right now with a mix of street and highway on 85 base.....damn that’s all I got to say. I didn’t change my driving style, I haven’t mashed on it and was able to see 18mpg average compared to the 15.8 I’m use to seeing.

I did notice the truck didn’t like being between 70-75 it was a weird area where it wanted to hunt a little. I’m sure that will fade away but everything else was where this truck should be stock.

I had the 1.05 91 base tune installed awhile ago but when I had my truck serviced yesterday, they did the TSB 0062-18 update. Do I need to reinstall the 1.05 tune? I had the 04B03 before the TSB update. Which one do I need now?

your paper work should say - 04B04 is what it should be, and yes you will need to flash the 04B04 Tune(s).
