From what I’ve read about @OVTune 2.0 with gearlock, the slip will be eliminated. The trans will shift correctly and hold a gear if you want it to.

Not eliminated, but greatly limited. The issue I have with that is I don’t like the gear lock tune because I don’t like rowing gears in an auto. I like being able to limit the top gear and letting the truck down shift if it needs to. Plus I really like ECT and would rather not give it up.

Got a question now. Im trying to follow the instructions and after I add the registry, it says to hook up to the truck and check the ECU ID. Do I have to copy and send this back to OV Tune and wait for the tune to be sent back before I can flash the truck?

if you have the registry file, you just need to check the ECU ID so you know what tune to download.

No you need to check what your ECU ID is so you know what tune files to download in flash manager.
    Just keep following the instructions.

    TC = Torque Converter
I believe our trucks have three conditions:
    Open
    Half lock
    Full lock
When the TC is not locked, it allows the engine to keeps the RPMs up to try to avoid a downshift. This creates a lot of heat though. I think the only time it’s open is when your not on the throttle, but somebody can correct me if I’m wrong.
I like full lock because it keeps temps down. There’s probably other reasons that others like it but I think they are better applied when the engine is making more power.

Again, this is just how I understand it. I stand to be corrected.

That's what I thought, but if you follow the instructions it says to get the ECU ID and send it back to get the tune files installed. So are you saying now connect to truck, run the P5flash, choose the tune then flash it?

    connect to truck
    identify
download desired tune from flash manager for your ECU
    Flash tune to truck

unless you'll be happy with mere mad speculation, there is no way to answer this. nobody has compared all these in stages from what I've seen here, and there is certainly no data.

but i can say the following:
    - 3"sounds decent, 2.5"sounds bad (typical v6 buzz) for the mid pipes. TRD cat back has 3" mid
    - 3" mid pipe does not lose significant torque, but it does feel different to the 2.5"mid pipe (most notably throttle response)
    - URD Y pipe and re-route also eliminates the rear cats & crush pipe that hangs low, so major restrictions removed. and sound changed, may want a resonator or resonated muffler.

Thanks again. Thinking OVTune + catted dumps first and go from there.

Anyone using SSP with Gear Lock? I assume that SSP still works as normal if you simply move to S mode and Gear Lock is activated as normal per the video.

I'm hoping Gear Lock and SSP give me ultimate flexibility when driving and towing.

Anyone have experience in these matters?

Another question (possibly dumb)... when looking on OVTune's website the tune package says 15-20 hp gain at such and such an rpm while the tune + dump tube page gives 16-20 gain for 91 and 20-25 hp gain for 93. I am assuming the 15-20 range stated on the standalone tune page is the 93 performance tune and therefore you can possibly gain an extra 5 hp with dump tubes? Not trying to get picky about hp since it is wildly climate and altitude specific but what real advantages do the dump tubes give you (I assume something since they are larger diameter/stainless/thicker metal).

Oh, how much reported hp gain (if any) do you get from dump tubes?
