I also have had that error before. I’m on 04A61 and I never got the error before I flashed 1.05.1 91 base to see if it made a difference then after a couple days I flashed back to 1.05 91 base to see if it did fix my shudder issue and I would get the brake override malfunction. Then I would flash it back to 1.05.1 and all was good. I’ve flashed back one other time to see if it would happen again and it did. So I haven’t changed from 91 1.05.1 since then. Just going to ride that out until 2.0!

First 2x times it happened I was on 1.05 87 base. Took it to Toyota and they ended up swapping out the throttle actuator. During that time 1.05.1 became available, and since I had the shudder, I upgraded to the 87 Base on said tune. 3k miles later bam same error. Spoke with @OVTune via zendesk, he advised to return to Stock and hang tight for his fix. He also informed me this error is happening on the factory Stock tune as well and Toyota knows about it.

Well it's been around 4,500 miles since I tuned to 1.05.1 87oct. The shudder is back. That's my only bitch. This truck always learns bad habits. I cant wait for Matt's new transmission tune.

Yeah. It always ends up with the torque converter shudder on the highway. I've even tried 1.05.1 91 with 93. It's done it since stock.

All good, just never want to run lower octane fuel on a higher tune.

It's not Matt's fault. It's the truck but it's still disappointing ya know.

If you have the 87 tune with 93 octane in the tank you are fine.
Just don't run the 93 tune with 87 octane in the tank.

I’m wondering if this is the same issue the FJ had. Mine showed up around 60k miles. Gear didn’t really matter, it was load and rpm based. And it could be BAD, like you think all lug nuts on one wheel are just about threaded off BAD. Give it just a little more throttle or a little less and it went away immediately. Also, dropping out of drive fixed it too because that locked the TC.

140k miles later and my brain and right foot just managed it subconsciously for me. :)

I’m still a new user and am babying the truck breaking in gears at the same time so I will hold my thoughts on performance until they are a bit more relevant and fact based, BUT I will share this:

I am running 87 performance and this was done in D using cruise control. I have never been able to use cruise control in D.

Edit: the warning indicator is just telling me I am due for service.

We have been doing the 4.0L for the same amount of time we have been doing the 3.5L.
There is no reason whatsoever for you guys to attack each other. This is totally uncalled for and his concern is completely understandable, which I have spoken with him about. If anyone is aware of how we work, this is NOT how it usually goes! 4th of july sales + being gone for a week for family things and trying to catch up all orders + working on the first ever true forced induction 3.5L means we are a bit behind.

This is correct. Matt has contacted me and professionally addressed my concerns. I have tried to delete my posts, but unfortunately the responses to the posts keep them up. My mouth is now shut. I'm going to apologize for angering anyone with what are, to me, legitimate concerns. Good luck with all the tunes, 3.5 and 4.0! Had I known there was a "beef" between the two, I would have chosen not to post. Take care all!!!

It’s only happened to me those two times in the exact situations. First time I was taking it to the dealership for the TSS recall but I had to clear it and reflash so I could drive to work that day. Told them it happened but no code, no problem they said. Had no issues for about 2 months. Then a couple weeks ago I flashed 1.05 91 base and it happened again about 30 seconds after driving from my house. Limped back and flashed back to 91b 1.05.1 and have had no issues since. Is the fix coming with 2.0 like all the other fixes?
