@Shellshock , @hr206 , easy enough to do the flash to 04B04 for a guy who remembers when the only classics were cars, not Lay's potato chips & Coke? I'll do a search in this thread for the walk through if it is.

So what do you guys think: buy a license now that comes with a cable or hold off until the handhelds become available? If I buy now, I will need to get a laptop to flash as well. Trying to figure the best option. Any idea on handheld pricing, can anyone that pre-ordered comment?

I love all this feedback I’m seeing of 2.0 EROM.
I’m stoked for my ECU version to be available. I’m holding off on regearing to 4.88’s now (stock truck) and going to see if 2.0 can make me content! Obviously when I go to larger tires and armor up, regearing will be necessary:rolleyes:

If you can read and follow directions, it’s pretty idiot proof. I believe @lapoltba has a link in his signature and a write up.

    Per Mat's post:
The current 2.0 beta works on 04B04 and is for 2016-2017 Trucks that have automatic transmission only. So, when the 2.0 beta comes out for the 2018-19 trucks (with radar cruise control) we will see, but I assume that it will work with the radar cruise control.

I upgraded from 04B02. I was pretty nervous to do it, but it was indeed straight forward.

The instructions are in this thread some where. What built my confidence was I read that it won't let you take an invalid upgrade path. I installed the flash tool and went to upgrade and there was one of those "are you sure, yes/no" dialog boxes. I said no, and went through trying to load the wrong version and it told me it can't do the upgrade. Which confirmed that it won't let me take the wrong upgrade path or flash the wrong file. It was fast and easy.

D + ECT on 1.05.1 has been great for me, no issues at all. I thought I read that with GearLock active
it will not down shift unless the RPM's get very low and Mat said he didn't recommend that with
City driving - which I do a lot of. I have not tried any version of GearLock.

He doesn’t recommend D+Ect for city driving because it doesn’t downshift correctly..

Might not be necessary. I'm on 33's with stock gears and am heavy. If I have 2.0 a few weeks ago, I might not have purchased 5.29s.

All previous gear lock tunes, including the 2.0 beta, use ECT to activate and then s mode to shift through the gears. This effectively disabled standard use of the ECT button and used it solely for gear lock mode activation.

Apparently this is set to change with the 2.0 final release and ect mode will retain its OEM function.

Have we gotten official word from @OVTune yet as to whether 2.0 Beta 93 is okay to use with 91 octane or not?

Dude, as it has been mentioned here before, you cannot use lower octane gas than what the tune is made for.

A couple members mentioned doing so simply because they are at high altitude, which supposedly helps avoid pre detonation as if they were running 93, but with no concrete numbers and testing, I wouldn't risk it.

Based on the statement below from his 2.0 blog page, I'd say no.

"This is a beta version and some features may be limited (i.e. no octane learning or map switching is enabled)."

Roger that. I just wouldn't be that great at explaining it. Let me get some more mileage in and I'll submit a ticket.
The tune is frikn awesome tho Mat! It's everything you said it'd be in your blog post. Just needs a little minor refinement.

Shifts too early from 2nd to 3rd (or was it 3rd to 4th?, I need to drive it some more) and it downshifts a little too fast for one gear I believe.
I was also getting a surge or hang which I think someone explained was TC slip?
Like I said I'm not good at explaining this stuff plus I need to drive it some more to nail it down.

I guess I should also add I'm carrying a little extra weight. One size larger/taller C-load tires and 150lbs of rock sliders. I'm not sure how much of a difference that would make though.

I’m glad I did the 4.88’s for me on 32’s with some armor. The truck seems to have better power to weight ratio. The high revving and constant shifting to maintain speed made me nuts and scared me the transmission wouldn’t last

It’s not ok. He has said it many times. Some people who stay at very high altitudes say it’s ok, but the risk is your own
