Its entertaining seeing misinformation about ECT use while in D mode. Lol

a lot of the confusion may be from users like myself who never used GL before because I wasn't interested in a performance tune. Couple that with the description in OP about 2.0 GL and what was offered in the BETA version aren't the same. So assuming I read the OP and was driving in D w/ ECT I would wonder why my truck was not acting as expected.

also people trying to help and adding wrong info... remember, this is TW.

Love how I can now actually accelerate on slight inclines in 6th @1700 rpms !!! Less tip in but haven’t had one jumpy start yet as it’s been very smooth throughout. Still shifts out of 4th about same but I’m 90% gearlock so nothing gets out early here. Heck it won’t allow me to hit 5th unless I’m at 50+ . Like what you’ve accomplished so far Mat just can’t wait for my 93 Insane tune!!

Holy crap! On this beta file, do not push the ECT button unless you are also in S mode. Simple as that. Been that way the whole time. Won’t change till final 2.0.

    ECT + S = Gearlock

    Let’s move on

While I’m at it... don’t run octane fuel rated less than what the file you are running calls for. There may be some exceptions for altitude, but do so at your own risk.

In response to a customer’s question on 04A60, @OVTune said “ Yes I am working on releasing 04A60 and 04A61 2.0 betas this weekend.” (POLL: OVTune Reviews (3rd gen) #415

Personally I’m holding out for the 2.0 final release with all the obvious issues fixed.

He’s not promising anything, just saying that he’s working on it.

    1.03<1.04<1.05< 2.0!!!

My truck just hit the 22k mile marker. Been tuned since 2k miles. With each tune the truck gets a bit better and better. I have some armor and larger tires.
For the most part, I’ve always ran a 91 tune. I’m really impressed with this 87 2.0 tune. The shifts are smooth and I don’t feel like I have a dead pedal at times. Highway cruising speeds are held nicely in 6th gear and I don’t feel a jolt when it drops down to 4th while trying to pass.

    Nice work @OVTune
Can’t wait to see what the 91 tune has in store for us.

Holy Mother*ker*son of a*itch - for the first time since July of 2016 (when I bought this) my taco drives like a normal truck. I only have 30 miles on 2.0 87, but it awesome so far. For those who hated the "1100 rpm lug", its gone. It does drop to about 1300 at around 48mph after you let off the throttle, but it feels different, hard to describe, its not struggling - seems to have more torque. Tip in is perfect for my style (tip in on 1.05 87 performance was too much for me, 87 base was fine, but did seem a little sluggish, but this 2.0 87 tip in nailed it), and for some odd reason the throttle bump i used to have whenever I turned the steering wheel is much tamer, no longer annoying. With 2.0 I can confidently say i no longer need SSP. Well, as long as there is no 'learning' crap that changes things for the worse. Matt - thanks, and i have nothing to report but kudos dude, it's awesome. Those awaiting, prepare for greatness!

Ok... I like to think I can admit when I am wrong. I was wrong.

After being berated by the group for questioning the length of time it takes to get the registration and downloads, I bit the bullet anyway and bought the tune. Mat did everything as advertised. He sent back the registration information within 24 hours, and everything is tuned (I think... I haven't been able to drive it yet. It just got done idling for 10 minutes). @OVTune I apologize for criticizing without firsthand experience.

One question... other than a "Completed Successfully," is there another way to see if it worked? I ran the "Read" feature on the ToyFlash tool and it then said, "Wrong ECU Selected, Completed Unsuccessfully." I believe I read somewhere that Mat said that if it said that it flashed successfully.

    Thoughts?

Drive it. There won't be any questions after that if you are coming from the stock tune.

If read fails, that means you’ve flashed 1.05 or 2.0 successfully. They are read protected.

I'm sure that I'll be attacked for saying so (nanny state; blah, blah, blah....). But a modification/tune that prevents a downshift in an auto trans vehicle risk injury and will likely result in a legal action. Start pulling through an intersection. Cross traffic looked like they were stopping per the light. But now they clearly are not.

As noted above, you would normally punch it and sometimes have a chance. There are of course other examples. I believe this is exactly why S mode is designed as it is, locking out of the high gear(s). Think somebody's wife, mother, mechanic doing a test etc. who doesn't know the truck is not going to down shift. And if the family of the driver of the Tacoma doesn't sue (trying to take responsibility), the insurance company of the other vehicle will if they find out.

Of course all OVTuned vehicles are only used off-road per Mat's disclaimer, right? Right....and his comments here prove that he is/was aware.

Thinking of worse case scenario? Guilty as charged.

    * Not running the GL tunes is of course an option we can all take

@Mike O, I don’t think you’ll be attacked for stating your concerns and opinion. Best case, 2.0 final fixes the GL in D situation.

It was never a problem for me because I only wanted gearlock for towing in S mode and never needed ECT on in D. Win x 2
