Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

which also begs the question: how many of you A/T guys will buy another Toyota A/T?

 

@OVTune do you see any correlation between the transmission maps and the Tacoma's Multi-Terrain Select system and Crawl Control? At a minimum both of these functions should be thoroughly tested to ensure the changes you're now going to be making to the transmission maps don't adversely effect these two functions. Sorta wondering if one or both of those features were a factor in the seemingly poor transmission maps from Toyota.

Good question I don't know the answer. I was thinking the Multi-Terrain Select may be the one more tied to the transmission. I know the Multi-Terrain system in my Land Rover LR3 plays with the throttle maps and transmission map depending on what mode is selected....not sure the the Toyota system is as advanced

 

from what I have seen crawl control changes the throttle mapping. significantly reducing maximum throttle.

That's good news for the auto transmission peeps. I flashed my truck back to 1.01b today. It will run like a scalded dog compared to 1.02. I had a couple of instances on 1.02 where the throttle just seemed to go mushy from 4th to 5th gear for about 3 or 4 seconds.

 

Rev hang has been greatly reduced with the tune. Can't wait for the MT's to get their day in the sun!

 

Have not seen anything like that yet >1K miles on 1.02. Truck drives much better on 1.02 and I can compare to all releases as first order placed. Have not loaded 1.02b and don't see a need to. I did have a big issue with 1.01 and was one of the reasons for the 1.01b release, that fixed my stutter that showed up on my truck. It is so weird how the tune has different affects on deferent trucks. Mat will get this all figured out soon. I wish he would release the logging function.

Yeah I think it's odd too. Alot of people seem to be having good luck with 1.02b. I will just wait for data logging and then we can get it sorted out. The main things I had with 1.02b is that really jerky feeling taking off and just a lack of power. I can understand what he said about it not feeling punchy with the vvt being smoothed out but I was having to down shift to 4th to take small grades that I can take in either 5th or 6th on 1.01b. It almost felt like the truck was leaning out or something. It's good though. I have a excellent fall back tune. We will get it sorted out.

 

MT here .......... June '17 build. Stock except exhaust. Put ~ 600 miles on it today. I've never had any rev Hang.
I'm very satisfied with the 1.02 tune. Need the 87 fix and all will be fine.

i have it here and there. it's never a problem. I'm installing the short shifter soon, have it on my desk, and it won't be a problem after that, either.

i lose less than 0.18 secs per lap due to the rev hang.
