I have asked the service department multiple times now. Outside of the factories, there is no published TSB or CUW file that upgrades the ECU from 04B30 to 04B31, and the service department told me that they are not going to request a CUW from the factories just for me without an associated and applicable TSB.

I think I'm just hosed until Mat releases an 04B30 version. :(

No idea but likely not. There won't be a cuw file available until Toyota has an update to release (newer than 04b31). It may be possible to flash using a dump from an unmolested stock ecu that has 04b31 on it.

In the early days of OVTune, that's how we got a backup of our stock file in case SHTF. Find someone with a stock truck and convince them to let you do an upload.

Or go to the dealer and take one for a test drive. (I don't condone or recommend this).

Standard disclaimer applies, don't blame me if it doesn't work. I do not know if flashing a backup of 04b31 will accomplish the same thing as a Toyota cuw.

I'm betting it won't work though.

I have a dongle so I think I have to get a new key or something since I'm going from 04A60 to A61. Does anyone know about that? I can't remember if the version triggers a new reg key or not.

Can one use TS to go from a newer version back to 04B04? Might be a stupid question. Sorry.

    Correct
Once you go to 04B04, you cannot go back to 04B03 or earlier versions.

Really loving 2.0 OL on 93 octane. ECU is 04b04 and for my type of driving, tip in and everything else is amazing. I can just get in and drive without thinking about it and being annoyed like I was pre-tune.

You'll be fine. I am a dongle user and updated from 04B12 to B13 way back when and did not need to re-register or anything.

B04 should be the newest version for ATs of those model years. Unless something monumental has changed or come up, you can not have gone from B04 to an even newer ECU version. That being said, you cannot "downgrade" your ECU version anyway. Not that you'd want to.

I've been running 2.0 for about a 100 miles now and I like it better than 1.05. The tip in is perfect me, 33 inch skinnys, 3 inch lift and an extra 600 pounds in the truck.

This weekend I'm headed to the mountains and I'll try the new octane learning feature. I've been using 92 octane for a year now, I'm switch over to 87 octane for the weekend.

I don't think that's possible... yet. If it were, everyone could have avoided the whole update mess in the past and just used 04B04 dump files to update their B02 and B03 trucks instead of having to flash the CUW with TechStream.

I think Mat mentioned that doing so may be possible in the future using some of the flash tools, though. Not sure where the progress is with that feature, so I'll just assume it's not happening any time soon.

I was just about to ask this! Looks like that is what my truck is on :bananadance:. Stoked to get a few more miles on 1.05 before 2.0 is released again on the 24th

I just installed techstream and turned off those damn seat belt buzzers (I wear it 24/7 on road, more for offroad and when I carry cargo on the passenger seat) and changed my blinker count from 3 to 7. The truck is complete now!

Out curiosity, how does one determine which ECU was installed in the vehicle? I have a '19 TRD-OR purchased in late April and am interested in the final 2.0 tune.

I don't think you need TS. Just FM and pick the tune that you want from the drop down? Maybe wrong?

I'm a 2017, but I think that you go to P5Flash and check there? Could be wrong. But, wouldn't hurt. Do you have the tune? If not you can't.

No, no dust here. Pull the trigger you will not be disappointed. Been here since Jan. 2018. Haven't been disappointed yet. Do not expect to either. The improvements are beyond anything that Toyota can or will do. I even paid premium price in 2018, Mat (OP) reduced the price AFTER I bought mine. All good though. Would not trade it for another truck! period. Hope that you make the correct decision. Good luck.

A scan tool or an OBD dongle/software can be used to determine your ECU ID.

I have a Carista Bluetooth OBD dongle and use OBD Fusion on my IPhone.

I believe "Torque" is the name of the App for Android.
