04A61, all stock, 87 octane, running on the first beta for 2.0 before flashing the latest. Drove a few minutes to get to normal operating temperature, flashed, no clearing of learned values, idled 5 minutes, did two pulls from 1500 to 6000 rpms. Drove about 30 miles.

Tip in feels the same or a bit milder. First beta had me a little jerky from a dead stop or backing up, new beta did not.
Over all response and "Getting up to speed" was good. Dead stop to 45 mph was smooth, shifting at points I would expect. Interstate entry was excellent, no hesitation, again shifting around 2500-300 rpm was smooth and what I expect.

Second to third shifting and third to fourth, with light throttle was smooth, didn't notice any high rpm hesitation even though I'm running 87 octane. I did see one misfire after the pulls on the OBDII dashboard but none after that.

Highway driving, which is what I do most, was spot on. Up thru fifth gear was smooth, and on a relatively flat interstate with normal acceleration fifth to sixth was at 70 mph. When I applied some soft pressure it held sixth and slowly gained speed. When I upped the pressure it downshifted to fifth then back to sixth when I left off. I had the dead peddle issue with the first beta and tried multiple times to get it to happen on this beta and it would not. Problem solved! It held sixth gear on small hills and responded to pedal pressure when applied.

Can't provide feedback on a heavy truck, as I said before I'm stock.

I've got to say this version makes the truck act like I always thought it should - smooth and predictable. I'm not sure what other changes could be made to make it better for me. My mileage with 1.05 87 base was around 23.5 mpg if I was conservative, 70 mph +-, dropped to 22.5-22.8 if I ran 75-80 on the highway. It was the same for the first beta and I don't expect it to change based on the 30 mile test ride today.

Good summary. Based on your feedback, I will try the third beta release. I was on the fence with trying it since I really like the second beta release. For the third beta, what exactly are the differences in Drive and S Mode with ECT On? Does it just change the shift points higher?

Just used techstream and updated to 04b04 then downloaded the 2.0 beta tune. Excited to see how the truck acts now. Was on 93 gearlock 1.05 tune, still have 93 in the tank.

Uploaded 2.0 this morning, coming from barely a week and a half on 1.05 87 perf tune ('17 DCSB TRD OR 4x4 with 285/75R16s, 4.88s, and 04B04). Followed the OL procedure to a 'T' using 87 octane. The multiple hard pulls we made in 2nd gear to 7k RPM were something else. Engine sounds like it's working a bit past stock red line, but nothing alarming. I'd like to know where the power and torque curves start to flatten or drop off on this tune, because she felt like she could keep pulling. I didn't detect any detonation.

I really didn't care for the 1.05 87 perf tune; I thought it was jerky and over-sensitive at low RPM and low speed. The effort it took to make it down-shift at highway speeds was alarming. All of that seems to be gone with this update. At low RPM low speed, the 2.0 tune feels like a slightly better stock tune (throttle isn't sensitive, it'll up-shift to 4th pretty fast if you're not careful). With a slightly heavier foot, from a stop light, it feels noticeably better than stock. At WOT this thing really shines! My wife had white knuckles as I red-lined it in 3rd.

All in all, I'd say the truck feels way more refined than with the 1.05 87 perf tune. WAY more refined!

That said, I can't wait for the 4.88-specific tune! Oh, and I really wish we could get some OVT stickers!

    Good to know.

Sticking with the first 4.88 2.0 87oct tune until the new 4.88 tune. About 250 miles on it now. The 4.88 specific OLE EROM should’ve be fantastic

Finally got the Beta download and when I click on the P5Flash Utility link, the ToyFlash window does not open. I put a ticket in the other day but haven't heard back yet. Any idea why?

Flashed the latest version of 2.0 released yesterday, so far so good, shifts are good, power seems smooth and there when needed, running 91 with 04B04, only have a couple short trips on it so far but seems like most of the little hiccups have been worked out, great work @OVTune you always come thru with an amazing product and results!!!!

    Probably your antivirus.

I have the same issue no matter how many times I tell the damn antivirus to whitelist P5Flash.

04B04 - installed latest 2.0 this morning, have about 50 miles now, still running 87 octane. I don't notice any difference from first 2.0, everything spot on perfect for me except the same old thing since day 1, i am still not liking the 6th gear in the 40-50mph range. It's a million times better in 2.0 because there is more torque, and because it wont hit 6th if you are on the throttle, but the moment you let it off it drops to 6th and stays there until you throttle it again. It will purr along nicely in 5th if you are on a slight upward slope, but the moment you throttle back, to say back to only 5% throttle, back into 6th it goes. I played around in S mode, and will tell you, THERE IS NO VALUE HAVING IT IN 6TH GEAR ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, UNTIL YOU 60+ MPH. Is the reason for mileage? If so I can't imagine it will save a ton of miles on mpg, so just code it so 6th gear never happens till after 60-65 mph, shit, isn't 6th suppose to be for overdrive anyway? I will put this in Zendesk, all good, maybe i can custom code mine when customs come out. In meanwhile, still agree 2.0 is awesome, and I still do not use my SSP anymore, so i am happy as a clam

I'm on the latest 2.0 beta now as well, coming from months on the 1.05 87 base tune. WOW! THIS is how the 3rd gen should be coming from the factory. Smooth, predictable, shift tables almost perfect, no more dead pedal spots. THANKS Mat!!! You've really done it, @OVTune! I can't wait to see what the final release will be like. 2.0 absolutely hits it out of the park for me!

04B04 on new 2.0 Base Beta running 93 octane first day initial feedback. This is with ECT on.

    - overall response / tip in: Good throttle response with no lag. Tip in feels good.
    - response and part throttle acceleration "getting up to speed": Good shift points with part and full throttle acceleration.
    - 2nd to 3rd shift, light throttle: Nice improvement, like the later shift to 3rd with light throttle. Also, no 2, 3, 2 bog out of slow corners.
    - 3rd to 4th shift, light throttle: Nice, like the later shift to 4th with light throttle.
-effectiveness of current changes to use of 5th,6th, highway driving: Dead pedal is gone when accelerating from steady cruising speed. Will downshift nicely with light/moderate throttle input. However, once it gets to cruising speed, 70 mph, it will hunt 6, 5, 6, 5... while trying to maintain speed.
    - experience of trucks with heavy weight: Only added weight are 32s, rock sliders, Undercover Flex hard tonneau cover, TRD skidplate.
    - Mods: TRD Pro CAI and catback.

With ECT on this is the best tune so far, even with the 5, 6, 5 hunting, IMHO. With ECT off, still shifts a little early to 5th and 6th and feels sluggish. For me the ideal tune would be 2.0 Base Beta with ECT response with ECT off, Performance response with ECT on, and Performance/Gearlock mode in S, all in one tune. Hope that makes sense.

I cant get my truck into 6th at 80mph...I've been hesitant to jump to tuning before my warranty is up but 2.0 is sounding great.

you have CC on and 6th + CC don’t play well together (at least in the past). When you tap the gas, get it to 6th it will begin to slow down until it goes back into 5th?

Try it without CC...does it go into 6th then?

Not uncommon. Your truck doesn’t have enough power to maintain 80mph in 6th gear. This is the reason for the 5/6 dance with the stock tune. If you have anything taller than stock tires, this is exasperated ever more.

If you slow down to say 65mph, I bet it will drop into 6th because the calculated load is significantly less. You have to keep in mind that both 5th and 6th gear are overdriven in the 6AT 3rd gen Tacoma.

If the engine cant maintain 80mph in 6th then how will the engine maintain a higher speed at a lower rpm when it finally shifts? I'm not understanding?
