No. If you want to evaluate the latest 2.0 beta you’ll have to update your ECU to 04A61.

Because on my truck I didn't find that 91/93 made it run any better than 87. I don't need the extra power/performance of 91/93 either. If I were going to tow something more than around town regularly I would switch over.

 

This is what I feel as well. Even before OVTune, I noticed how much better the truck ran on better octane (after a couple full tanks of it had been used). To me and my driving preferences/style, the higher octane was worth it.

 

Personally, I don't get any better mpg on 93 compared to 87 and the overall shift and feel doesn't improve in a noticeable way, however the power increase, specially when accelerating at highway speeds(60>80mpg) is decently noticeable.

This is different for everyone but I wouldn't advice everyone to jump to higher octanes expecting a huge mpg increase.

 

I have been off this awhile and seen some posts about 04B30.... Which I have and I helped fix some bugs with the 1.05... Is there 2.0 beta for this Ecu I’m not aware of? @OVTune

 

I’m guessing it hasn’t released yet. I did read that post but with many in between its difficult to navigate.

 

Yeah, nothing yet to my knowledge. I'm sure it's in the works though. Lots of coding between all of the difference ECU versions and various bugs to work out.

 

Got back after test drive of the latest and greatest tune. Updated to 04B04. 4.88 gearing, full size steel front bumper with Smittybuilt 10k lbs. winch, full size rear steel bumper, 17" wheels with 275/70/17 KO2's, camper shell (long bed)ICON IV lift front and rear, Roadmaster Active Suspension, steel rock sliders, 21"D X 19"H X 9"W toolbox stuffed with tools. I'm heavy. Approx. 55 miles on the test drive. 14 Freeway. Did the runs, no problems. Got to the fwy side streets, all good. Tuned on a warmed up engine. Did the idle 5 mins. Freeway drive up and down moderate hills all good smooth shifting not jumping into 4th 5th so on. Up the freeway no CC. 6th to 5th when it got steep. Back to 6th when not too steep or leveling out. Did that drive 15 years (only last two with this truck) 2017 4X4 access cab Off Road long bed. Took the hills much better that it ever did.

 

Yup. I’ve tried every available tune since 1.01.

 

Uh. I have the 2017 Off Road too, Access Cab. Real heavy. Even before I was TUNED I only had the "Stall" hesitate once (ASS PUCKER). My truck was made in TEXAS, good ol boys down there did a bang up job!!! Thanks. I am on the Beta 2.0 OLE now and the truck hasn't run better! Good luck, hope that it works out for you. Aloha.

 

Cool that you’re liking the latest tune. I think the latest beta OLE base has decent throttle response, but I think 1.05 P91 and the beta OLE GL had much better throttle response. The first beta 87oct GL had really bad throttle lag for me. That’s the tune I almost got t-boned on. I think beta OLE GL is the best tune to date. My truck ran really good on that one. I’m probably going to flash back to that for now.

 

Kinda tragic that these truck are soooooo different. Toyota really messed up on these, IMHO! 2017 OR. same truck different outcomes. Thank Mat for the rescue. Find the one that you like and go with it. Good for you. Aloha.

I have a 2019 TRD Pro and on the 04B31 2.0 with 93. I’m only getting about 19.5-20mpg on a half a tank so far. Wonder if it will get better? I rest the LV. Should I do both or just let it settle in? I have a 50 mile commute to work with lots of Elevation changes.

 

You just need miles. Be patient..

 

The truck is only rated 20/23. If you're getting ~20 with lots of hills, you aren't doing too bad. It may improve with some miles on the tune, but I wouldn't expect much.
