Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

I had the same issue, he sent me an email with the link to the drivers and I just downloaded again and it worked for me. I also had to switch computers to even get as far as you have. Then once I clicked his link and download went right back through and it worked for me.

I coudn't get beyond this point either.

When OVTune finally got back to me, it turns out that I needed to send him my dongle serial number. I'm still waiting for a code that he needs to send to me, allowing me to proceed.

At least that's how I now understand things are. You really cannot tell much from the instructions, especially since the dongle is now pre-encoded, and this is not reflected in the instructions.

I have not yet been able to read my ECU, so I am certainly not an expert. I just want to let you know that you are not alone. It has been very frustrating.

will there ever be an Apple install or do you have to have Windows computer

 

Likely not because the software used to flash the ECU is third-party and written for windows system

Mat, thanks for your hard work and I'm patiently waiting as it gets when it gets here. As I know your very busy fixing our crappy stock tunes which I hope is very profitable for you as you really deserve it....
Is there a chance you could update and simplify the instructions for those of us who are a little confused about all the changes...?

I plan to have the instructions updated to reflect the exact process for our rev2 dongles this weekend.
working on sending out serials.

more shift point and rpm tuning continues.

next batch of dongles which are on their way will FINALLY catch us up to fill all orders and have extra in stock. wheew.

IIRC, it was about 36-48 hours for me for the initial tune.

Can you all help settle my concerns about the tune's effects on longevity, reliability, etc.? Obviously, the performance is there ... but what does this mean for me if my truck sh*ts the bed prior to the warranty expiring? Can I experience some sort of catastrophic engine or transmission failure and still flash back to the stock program in order to have the necessary work done under warranty?

Disclaimer: I know nothing about this stuff. I'm not going to buy a obd reader and monitor different sensor readings and engine outputs and all that .... wouldn't know what I'm looking at.

Any time you modify something as important as the ECU tune on a vehicle, of course you risk all of those issues. OVT appears to have a pretty solid track record with tuning vehicles, so most of us will put our trust in him. If you're really worried about it, get after your research and learning about how engines work and what a tune can do.
