Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Yah these 3.5’s are weird. I drove next to a guy the other day with a straight pipe with no muffler and I was very surprised how good it sounded

 

I was only curious how the catted dump tubes would affect the sound. Never looked at the URD y-pipe.

 

No worries. The guy that was getting the dump tubes said he had "stock exhaust and y-pipe" so that may have led to the confusion.

 

I pulled the custom code from the Scangauge site for the TC, but it doesn't seem to report anything. I'm just thinking that might be a handy data point for evaluating beta flashes and maybe someone has it working.

 

Will it let you skip the identification and click the 3 ... dots to select tune and write or is it grayed out??

 

I’ve ran into that but I think it was because I opened up some older versions of pcm flash and had to many windows open of the program. I think what fixed it was closing all of them and updating pcm flash to newest version and running that program and it worked out

 

It’s happening when I try to write (flash) the tune. I’m gonna try different things

 

anyone here recently (like in the last week or so) download, install and run TS to flash/upgrade ecu? If so pls send link/information. Tried one linked in post earlier but computer says it has virus and won't allow. ??? Or anyone in Denver willing to update for me? TIA.

 

Turn off you AV, or create an exception. It's fine.

 

Most virus software will tell you they all have a virus. Even OVtune will trip a virus alert.

'16 on o4b03 ecu - want to get to 04b04 to take advantage of the obvious. Think I have local option to flash - so may not need to bash my head against the wall trying to download TS.

Getting TS running is about the same effort as setting up OVT. The important part is following the steps to prevent bricking.

 

Problem is everyone is afraid to turn off anti-virus. I understand, but that’s what usually is the solution.

 

I do understand that worry. Although, every ECU programming tool seems to toss up the same warnings.

 

Any of you guys worried about this list getting long enough to catch the attention of the owners of Techstream since my understanding is it is a bootlegged copy of a software you would normally have to pay to use?
