Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Disable all AV and windows defender or whitelist all of the OVTune files.

 

Although I would like to register my laptop now, I am considering holding off while I update it to windows 10 (from windows 7) in a few days..I am concerned that if I register the computer now, then update to windows 10 the whole process will be required again....thoughts?

 

Unsure, it does grab a config ‘ID’, hardware changes will trigger a need. Software might, but I’m sure someone with knowledge will save the day (evening).

How It Works:

- Once you receive our ECM Tuning Package you load our software to your windows laptop.(A windows laptop is required and not provided! WINDOWS XP IS NOT SUPPORTED!).You register your software and dump the binary contents of your stock ECU. We then provide you a modified binary to load to the ECU with all of our latest developments. Good to go with what you have now. By the way, OVTune@zendesk will still be available even though the "site" will be down. Help still available.

 

I feel you @Spike91321 but I did a windows 10 update and it hosed up all my shit. Had to roll back to before the update before I could flash again. I thought it would be prudent to do the update before registering to avoid any such snags. I have read where system ID's have changed with Windows updates. It certainly fucked me up for a few minutes!

 

Got ya. The "HOW IT WORKS" quote is from OVTunes web site. kzs7878 wants to update to 10 before the download. Doesn't seem necessary? Maybe wrong. thanks.

 

I sent a email to the "zendesk" referencing the update..I have no idea what time zone they are on or what kind of response I will get. Yet it seems prudent to hold off till I am sure of the next step. I am not really in a hurry to get this fully implemented, yet I am concerned how much time I have before the Overtune operation shuts down this fall..I will still need the registration from them once the laptop is converted to windows 10.

Thanks to each of you who have so kindly responded to my inquiries. I will report back with further progress.

 

If I was in your shoes I would update to windows 10, download and install the OVTune software and begin the registration process.

I received an automated response from Tune support..The business hours are M-F 8-4.. and Sat 10-Noon Eastern Time

 

If you are updating to windows 10, you will want to hold off on the registration process until you have done so. Your system id will likely change, requiring you to go through the whole registration process again.

 

They are just shutting down physical orders, you will still have support. At least that's how I understand.it.

OVTune proper is located on the EAST coast time zone. Do not know where the support team is. If that helps? BTW, "ZENDESK" will be available through out the "Reorganization" there will not be any interruptions with that phase.

Here are some of my thoughts on the 2.0 BETA I have been running since the end of July. For reference, Zendesk ticket # is 3554.

Keep in mind this is a very general overview and this all being said I know it isn't the final product!

After driving on the 2.0 BETA for ~3,000 miles all throughout North Carolina and Virginia, with mixed driving and varying conditions I must say this is a very impressive BETA. I have seen a average bump of 1 mpg in all driving conditions. For reference, my rig is a 2016 Double Cab Long Bed 4x4 6-speed automatic with stock gears (3.91) and armored up (about 400 pounds extra) with 2.5'' lift and 265/75R16 All Terrains. The tune in its current form, while unfinished has completely transformed this truck and still packs a punch despite gaining weight since purchasing brand new in 2016. It (the BETA tune) really helps get the truck moving and while on highway trips it is not uncommon to still see ~21 mpg per the calculation at the pump. All of the bits that have been revised in this version has gotten me real excited to see what the final product will be like once released. I would say the thing to look forward to most will be the sharpened ACIS tuning in 2.0...that's when things really "wake up" in my opinion (not to mention somewhat curbs my subtle want for a turbo on the truck...ha!) and gets the heavy mid-size up and out of its own way.

Overall, what Mat and his team at Orange Virus are doing for us is simply put, awesome. There is so much potential with these trucks and they have unlocked it! I couldn't recommend this product enough!

Was just a name I picked out with my old tacoma when I was learning how to fix different things that went wrong on it. The tune will definitely make you love your truck more!

 

Which version of the 2.0 beta are you running?
