I had stumble at multiple speeds with 1.05 and the current beta got rid of all that.

I always do, but since I will be going from the first 4.88 beta to the newest (91 oct) 4.88 beta, I think I will try not doing it.

I always reset both for a new tune. You get clunky shifts for about 50 miles. I feel you need to level the playing field to truly evaluate.

Yep. And “getting on the gas” and ripping through the first tank seems to help it level out quicker...driving conservative on the first tank really only needs to be about a third or half the time for it to learn that procedure. After doing this the second or even third tank gets the nice consistent mpgs.
    (My observations since 1.03)

Sorry if this has already been asked, but i can’t cycle through all these posts.

does the trucks transmission try to “relearn” and adjust after applying OVTUNE? I know it kind of does with the TSB flashes, which sucks.

basically, will I have to reflash OVTUNE every couple of months or is the learning logic disabled with this flash?

    thanks!

The tune disables/overwrites the ECU (sluggish driving experience) learning. The tune takes time to settle in (300+miles) to run optimally. A flash stays flashed until you flash another tune.

If you have ECT on and don’t have a gear selected via “S mode”, your truck won’t downshift until it’s critical. Please read and understand the page that you pulled your tune off of. This is most likely not a valid post. And even if it is, you should be taking it to Mat after flashing back to a previous tune that you know works for your truck.

When you have ECT on + D mode you lockout downshifting. The 2.0 Beta is a mixture of 1.05 Performance w/Gearlock and new 2.0 stuff.

Awesome, thanks. Considering the plunge, I’m fine with the way the truck drives except when towing, and I’d like to just use the “manual” shifting mode on the 1.5 tune while towing.

If you don't fully, completely, totally understand how current implementation of gearlock works, don't use the files.

Hey brother. I’m just curious as to why ECT is important for a DD. The way this blended performance beta drives I can’t imagine wanting to hold gears longer. Do you tow often?

I currently have an issue with the OVtune software I used to tune it to 93 gear lock. I wanted to reflash it a few days ago, opened the software and followed the same instructions as last time "nothings changed on laptop" and now the flash programs wont actually open. Also had to redownload the tunes, as they were not in the location I had originally saved them, almost like it had deleted it all after it finished its tune. If I cant get it to work, I cant update as they roll out. I may be forced to put it on another PC if that is possible.
