Yes it does if dongle users only downloaded pcm files ! Think about being forced to be switched and then only getting the next beta released with no other choice but a 1.05 tune because a dongle user only has (now)worthless dongle tunes saved .

That is a good question. It is not like the dongle goes away. I could be wrong, but you should still be able to flash the PCM files? You just won't get new PCMs, just P5F.

Both the dongle and System ID are tied to you, so I don't think that becomes a problem. Just shooting from the hip.

I do know that some folks have some favorite dongle files saved.

I try to always come down on the side of "Mat's doing whats best, and he's doing it for a good reason".
But when an entire group of files (.pcm) disappears from the the download page without explanation, it kinda makes me scratch my head.
The .pcm people are the original customers that gave this thing the momentum from the start.
I always download and save the files I may need as soon as they become available. Often I never do actually flash them to my truck, but so be it.
I do have them saved for if I ever want to use them.
Mat asked us many moons ago to not share files among ourselves. But what are people supposed to do @OVTune that thought they could download them "tomorrow"?

If there is a mandatory switch from dongle to dongle-less, it would not be any charge.

The .pcm files are not non existent or not going to be available.. I will be posting them as the new build 19800s when all are ready to go. It's a matter of re-exporting each individual file, uploading to our server, enabling the necessary encryption, and setting up the links.

    - pending reg keys will be sent out tomorrow morning time (for reg key requests)
    - if you have the ACCESSORY version handheld, I'll be posting a page to download the handheld manager software

Saved pcm files cannot be used with PF5 system . Unless a dongle user downloaded both pcm and pf5 files and saved both types , a dongle user could be out of luck. I believe Mat knows that forcing dongle users to dongless would be a cruel thing to do to the people that got him where he is today without come up with a solution to make up for it and make it worth while .

That the thing. You'd still have the dongle and PCM flash for the saved PCM tunes. After the switch, you would have dongleless FM with P5F flash for any new files.

Unless I am wrong (could be?), I do not see that you are losing the ability to use those old files. It is just that @OVTune can cut his processing workload by about half and you wouldn't have to wait on individual emails to get sent?

There is only about 200 dongle users out there and we have had a good bit of them returned over the months from second hand sales.
We may just require you register for all new updates and keep the dongle for old files you may want to use for whatever reason.

If it boils down to being a "numbers" thing... that doesn't bode well for the MT peeps.
Do we phase them out and force everyone to an automatic?

We might be a bit too enthusiastic most times, but we're also :spending: .

Running dongle and dongleless together is just costing @OVTune time and money that would be better used elsewhere. Basically opposite.

Actually, with all the AT shift point complaints going conflicting ways, you guys should just convert to MTs and take an issue off the table.

Just imagine a world where every damn shift happens when and how you want it.

I am one of the original dongle users and would probably be fine updating to the dongle-less setup and/or may go handheld anyway once Matt/inventory gets caught up. I am afraid I'm gonna lose that dongle every time I break out the tuning kit. Still rocking the original 2.0 4.88 beta tune and loving it.

@OVTune are FlashManger tunes seeing the same "unsuccessful" and resulting "brake override malfunctions" that some of us dongle users are seeing with the 19800 and previous octane learning drops (see ZH ticket #10472)? If a conversion from dongle to FM resolves this problem, I'd like to make the switch. Looking for some guidance.

Has anyone else come across "QT Platform plugin could not be initialized"?
