When you feel the vibration of the TC is that locked or unlocked? When going up a hill holding the gas steadily and there is a constant vibe... I assume that’s locked?

Does anybody have any insight as if 89 oct would work with running the 16012 2.0 Base OLE beta? I went back to the intial post where it was released and it stated that 91-93 is recommended but I only get 87, 89 and 93 here and I drive about 120 miles a day and I'm trying to cut back on costs.

The attachment is a pdf that I made from the OVTune download page when I downloaded the files for the 3rd beta (16012). The pdf indicates 87-93 octane learning enabled. So 89 should work fine.

EDIT: There is conflicting info in this post below:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...lopment-thread.495735/page-2646#post-21735632

The download page said 16012 was an OLE file, the post below says it's not. Only your hairdresser (Mat) knows for sure.

When it’s unlocked, the engine feels “loose” and rpms vary a good bit. When it goes from unlocked to locked, it almost feels like an upshift.

I verified this with OBD fusion app.

I'd like to chime in here on the comparison of 19770 and 19800. I tried them in this order 19770 -> 19800 ->19770. I've got several hundred miles on both tunes, so they have 'matured' on my truck.
At first, I did not like the aggressive tip-in of 19770(91octane) but after switching to the 19800(91octane) tune, I realized that I actually did like the 19770 tune more...let me explain.

19800 is a very mild tip-in. It provides such a great linear throttle response/tip-in that makes city driving very smooth. It provides a very leisure driving experience, still much better than stock, no doubt about that. But, I found that in my experience, how much I personally like to apply the throttle did not work to my liking with 19800. When cruising, just to maintain speed I barely push the throttle, as I'm sure most of you do as well. I found I would have to keep pressing the throttle down more to maintain my speed on the roads I normally drive more than I would like to. That was my issue with that build.

I flashed back to 19770 the other day and it just made me realize how much I preferred that tune. It has so much pep in it and it puts a smile on my face when I drive my truck. It does take some getting used to the aggressive tip-in, but once you learn how to do a smooth start with it, it's AWESOME! The tip-in also feels a lot better for maintaining speed for how much I personally like to apply the throttle while cruising, feels like the truck is always pulling, vs losing speed.

I would highly recommend everybody to give both 19770 and 19800 builds a try for a week. The only difference is tip-in, but personally, I felt like it made a lot more of a difference in the overall driveability (and fun factor) of the truck, whether not that is true or just placebo...I'm still enjoying 19770 :)

    Cheers.

(and yes I did submit my opinion via ticket as requested to compare the two - #10521)

Also chiming in - I have the dongle and downloaded these files on 3 Oct. I haven't installed them (not home to do so), but was really really looking forward to it!

As for the dongle, I pretty much need it. Dongleless version would be a pain in the yang for me since I use multiple computers and wipe them every year. So I second @2017TRDpro 's idea on possibly integrating the dongle authentication into the P5F Toyflash software. One can always dream.

16012 does not have OLE or gearlock according to info I got directly from Mat:

Then I guess only Mat knows for sure. The info that was available on the download page (memorialized in the pdf) conflicts with the info on the jpg you posted.

You are in the correct forum and you can ask all the questions you want. Several people here have the knowledge to answer your questions. (Not being me) I'm not into the GL tunes. Maybe you could tell what year your truck is and what ECU you have and specifically which tune your running. Things like that will help to give you a more complete answer.
    Welcome to Tacoma World. :)

I asked him via Zendesk to clear up the info that was originally posted, so I think I'll go with what came directly from the horse's mouth. Hopefully he's not confused from all the hours he's been putting in! ;)

I'm pretty sure If the beta tune file doesn't have OLE in the name it doesn't have the feature and I believe this was the only one that had it due to it needing further refinement. 04B04+-+2.0+EROM-OLE-Build+13079.pcm

So once we get the handhelds working do they run the p5f files or pcm , will we need our dongles to work the handhelds?

You download the tune files to your PC, transfer them to the handheld, then use the handheld to flash the truck.

Ok I get the upshift (half-upshift) feel part... But what does the vibration mean? It’s the TC vibration that everyone talks about you can feel in the steering wheel, almost like a humming vibration. Is that locked? Partial?
