Anyone feel that the 91P 2.0 tune has smoother driving and shifting than the 87base 2.0? 04b30 FYI. Got about 270 miles on the base so maybe it hasnt fully settled?

Well...given the higher octane it may be shifting better to the rpm range staying more consistent

Do we know if the final 2.0 is going to be an OLE build?

Hoping it will, as well as a non-gearlock version.

I think Mat's indicated both will be available.

My limited experience is that the 91 octane tunes are always smoother than the equivalent 87 tune.
Mat made the comment last month that you can't get "...93 octane power with 87 octane tune (impossible but constantly asked for)...".
More "power" from 91 than 87 has to translate to more refinement.

Has anyone ever suggested that ECU and transmission adaptive learning might be Toyota's equivalent to VW's diesel emissions scandal? I mean, if you think about it, reset LV and you revert to an anemic mode that gets you through EPA emission and mileage tests(?), then everything adapts to something a driver might find more appealing but compromises emissions/MPGs?

That is not how EPA testing works. There are real world driving requirements before the test vehicle goes into a lab, then a second round of driving before a confirmation test. Basically, each driving cycle would be long enough for the learning to settle in.

Sorry, but I am bit too lazy ATM to google all that. It was documented during the development of the Ural EFI models a few years back. They are a local company and a few local riders helped out with the test cycle and racking up the required miles.

The diesel scandal methods were pretty ingenious. Learned values and adaptation are pretty much in our face and makes truck to truck comparos pretty damn hard, esp with whatever the fuck Toyota did to screw us.

Our turbo cars would adapt also. Drive like granny for too long and the spool would get very lazy. Do a few Italian tune ups and they would come alive. Adaptation runs would really settle things in.

Thanks to assistance from @ihatemytruck and @SpeySquatch I finally updated my calibration and tune from 1.04 to 2.0 19770 4.88. What a difference! Im running 5.29s w/35s and the tip in works well for me. Granted I haven't had a huge amount of seat time to give a more thorough review but the initial impressions are awesome! Really curious to see what 5.29 specific tunes will be like :rolleyes::rolleyes:.

Ditto, but no sense in it until we are done with the betas. Just more work for Mat to have to fight through.

Maybe toyota finally decided to fill the transmission fluid to spec lol

That would make a difference based on how many people down right refuse to check it..

I thought my 2017 was awesome on the first test drive and first few hundred miles driving. Then the honeymoon period expired and I realized what a hunk of shit the stock tune was. Then ran 1.01 and never looked back and continued to upgrade tubes.

    Hello guys,

I will be unavailable tomorrow, until saturday morning.

Glad to see several folks got their Handhelds up and running (OFT versions) and tunes loaded!
Error Code 10003 is actively being worked on right now, and we have a timeline for the fix (only affects 18/19 trucks :( )

I will be working on tickets further this weekend.
Our site will be updated soon with a new clearer instructions, our most up to date version of flash manager, our new logger, and more.
Videos of how to use everything will also be updated, and they will be crystal clear.

We are gearing up for a great November :)

Well @OVTune Matt, I received my pre ordered loaded handheld last week and sent you a reply before using as you requested. Any updates on these.
    Thanks :hattip:

I will check and get back to handheld tickets on saturday, so far every ticket I looked at is just people waiting for the protocol update for 10003.

if you can pm me the ticket number I can take a look now, as I am looking at tickets right now

Can anyone clarify the difference between the two hand held kits? I have confirmation of my Flash Kit Accessory version, purchase ORDER #5117 in case you're monitoring the forum OVTune.

I'm an OG dongle user (old enough to be purple). I wanted the flash kit so I could get rid of hauling a laptop around when necessary. I also wanted maximum flexibility with loading various tunes. Did I get the right one or do I need to contact OVTune? I just read the descriptions online and it looks like I'll be getting another OBDII cable, which may not be required since I already have one.

    TIA

If you got the accessory kit and are dongle you are the same as me. I got a new obd cable with my accessory handheld, but instead of one end being usb, it’s a special connector that plugs into your handheld. You could sell your old ‘obd to usb’ or keep it for tech stream usage, which is what I’m doing. Hope that helps

oft is for new people without a kit already, accessory is for already tuned users looking to upgrade

    :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Sounds like I have what I wanted then. Handheld not using a 'standard' connector like some flavor of USB? Another attempt at, what.... I don't know. Why can't standards be used (Damn you Apple, I still buy your stuff).
