In a stock truck when you're driving:
You step on the gas pedal and it "phones home" to the ECU which then decides if it wants to allow the engine RPM to increase and the transmission to shift gears.
Often this conversation seemingly takes "forever" to reach its conclusion, and even then it often chooses the wrong gear. Can be scary in a tight situation.

In an OVTuned truck when you're driving:
You step on the gas pedal and the truck pretty much responds as you would expect a normal vehicle to react. Quickly.
You really don't have to think about "What is the truck gonna do, is it going to choose the right gear or just fall flat on its face?".

Read the first post of this thread and the latest blog on the orange virus site to see what the product is, what it corrects and determine if that meets your needs.

personally it works well for me, it corrects a lot of the tuning issues with the truck, but ultimately it can not overcome the mechanical limits of engine size, transmission gearing and differential ratios

I just want this truck to drive like how is suppose to be. Instead of hunting for gears.

Do we lose the ability to use the current beta tunes if we delete the old flash manager?

Do whatever makes you feel better lol:notsure:
Highly doubt it. If you do, then just reinstall the old version.

I deleted 1.0.4 and installed 1.3.0, yes. Haven't used it though because I haven't needed to flash anything new. :notsure: I'm still on 91oct 22000 beta for B13

I had a couple problems with it and if it helps anyone with a dongle -
1-I had to turn off all antivirus before even clicking on the picture of the OBDII adapter on the OVTune site or it was blocked before even seeing it .
2- Once installed I had to resolve the problem explained by @mZiggy post 54010 https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...1-05-tune-development-thread.495735/page-2701
3 - I have not tried to flash yet but with the dongle in , and drivers for it installed , and the legacy dongle user box checked - I get an error message that I need to register to use the logger feature , contact Zendesk . @OVTune ?

My dongle was registered a long time ago and am confused as to what this is all about . The PCMflash fired up without an error message and looks like it will work but I have not tried it .Anyone or Mat have an answer for this ?
    EDIT !
I did not have the laptop hooked up to the truck at the time , just the dongle in the computer , if that is the reason the logger did not work ? Maybe it needs to see the Vin in the truck to validate the registration ?

I wonder if I'd get the same error message for the logger. I have a dongle as well and PCMF started up with no issues but I didn't try to launch the logger.

I ready to pull the trigger on the Hand held. I'm just not entirely clear if it's the best route for me to take. I don't have a laptop but I do have a Windows desktop PC(although it's a pile of shit). Is the hand held ready to go right out the box?

If you read my post above - it is not (yet). Assume when 2.0 comes out (non-beta) it may be.

1)You need to install a program on your computer, plug in tablet to update.
    2) plug in tablet to truck to read/save OEM calibration.
    3) save this calibration to your PC for backup.
    4) download and install tunes on tablet thru this program.
    5) write the tunes from tablet onto truck.

i'm stuck at #4 right now.

Kings, 275/70/17, a few custom items, lots of Meso mods.
Some handhelds are supposed to be ready right out of the box. That's the reason I did the preorder. I'm just waiting for instructions. You can still get updates but that requires a computer which I dont have.

I have read multiple times from you that you don’t have a computer. I am just curious—WHY NOT??

And this was before 19800. He drove it when it was 2.0 93 Beta. We turned left and I told him to floor it...we went through 4th gear and he was hooked!
19800 is soooooooo much smoother. @CttAznRanger you're going to love it!

Yes. Mine was supposed to be as well. It was blank. Yours is likely blank. Instructions are on his site https://www.ovtuned.com/pages/tacoma-handheld-instructions, but it basically says "use open flash's instructions" https://support.openflashtablet.com/support/home. Which i did. I just don't know which files i have to upload, because openflash says to search their page. that's where OVT's instructions end. I'm sure it will be updated soon.
