No more beta files for the rest of us. 04B04 gets the final 2.0 for a check then release to the masses.

My 04B04 is Ready for the Final Check! My family will also be gone for 4 days starting Thursday so....If Mat is reading this...I'd be more than happy to put a couple of hundred miles on it across Oregon to make sure it's working just Fine and Dandy!

LOL. Agree, but if I don't like it, it will take three weeks to a month to smooth out again on the stock gear tune. Still thinking about it...

    Hey everyone.
Just want to post here to let you know we have a smooth setup now working with our tickets via zendesk.
Best place to get a fast response is our zendesk.
We had some tickets that were not properly assigned (usually if you send multiple new tickets) these have been found and allocated. So if you didn't receive a response to an old email, this is why.

We won't be answering any direct questions regarding individual orders, status, registration, etc by this forum anymore. this is to clear any confusion, remove any clutter, and ensure that we get to our customers as quickly as possible through the appropriate channels.

    - unfortunately putting my cell as our phone number was a mistake.... so we will be posting our new land line number soon.

I’d get a voip number, then you can do call forwarding / routing to whatever device you want and schedule active hours.

Still falls flat on 3rd and 4th in city driving more then before. Open roads are fine.
I vote for more r&d. Not to mention winter gas effect.

I think the performance map of 2.0 final will address your concern.... I have the same experience on the latest tune. After putting up with it and becoming frustrated, I went back to the latest tune variant that has a functional ECT. This tune I’m running now has me pretty happy. If the performance map of 2.0 final is anything like the tune I’m running now with ECT, we should be pretty happy. I’m being optimistic and hoping however, that the base map of 2.0 final will hold 3rd and 4th a bit longer. If not, I don’t think I’ll ever run the base map. Mat has mentioned that this is still a common complaint and something he’s working to address. I think he mentioned that it’s not easy.

Got my handheld up and running last night. Currently this only works for 2016-2017 trucks. 2018+ support is TBD (waiting on firmware update from OpenFlash). Here are the basic steps:
Read OV's instructions to make sure you are an OFT owner, NOT an "accessory" owner (upgrade from flash kit to Handheld). https://www.ovtuned.com/pages/tacoma-handheld-instructions

1)First you need to download and install the handheld manager program (Called OpenFlash Manager) on your Win7/10 PC. After installation, plug in your handheld to the PC with OpenFlash running, which will auto-update your handheld to the latest firmware. https://ovtune.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/Setup_OpenFlash+Manager_1.44.0.exe
    2) Next, unplug handheld from the PC and use the OBD cable to plug the tablet to the truck to read/save OEM calibration. Read thru the Openflash instructions on OVTune's page https://support.openflashtablet.com/support/home - it mentions do NOT open or close anything (doors, windows, hoods) while you are doing this to eliminate changes of electrical interference. I personally got in the truck, closed everything, then did a two button push on the starter button (do NOT start your truck). I turned off my HVAC and stereo and all lights.
    3) On the handheld, select "read". DO NOT UNPLUG OR TOUCH ANYTHING IN THE TRUCK while this is reading. Mine took 5 minutes. Bring your cellphone to keep yourself entertained.
    4) Plug handheld back into your PC to save this OEM calibration for backup. I created a new folder in my documents for all the tunes.
    5) Email Zendesk which ECU calibration you have currently installed (mine was 04B04) and if you are running their dump pipes or not. They will they forward you the proper tune files (in my case, 87,91 and 91 performance). Download the tunes into the folder you created for the original base tune.
    6) In OpenFlash, select upload, then upload the tunes provided by OVTune in the free / empty slots.
    7) Plug the Handheld back into your truck (same procedure as step #3 above) and then select "write", then select the tune you would like to be installed on the truck. Once it has finished, follow the instructions on the handheld (turn truck off for 20 seconds, don't touch ANYTHING) then turn on the truck and let it idle for 60 seconds (don't touch ANYTHING). Turn off your truck one last time, and now you are good to go!

I've put about 30 miles on the 2.0B 87 tune so far, and it is miles above the OEM tune. I love how it can accelerate between 1500-2500 rpm thru the gears and you actually get to feel some low-end torque. Shifts seem nice and crisp so far. I will try the long uphills tonight to see how it does, but so far it has made city / suburb driving much more enjoyable. I don't notice much difference at full throttle but it has made low-medium throttle much more comfortable. I can finally get on the highway without revving to 5,000rpm.

2016-17 handhelds work fine, it's the 2018-19 handhelds that aren't working atm. Glad you like it, though!

According to Mat, there will also be a 2.0 beta release for the 2020 before the end of the month (ECU 04B80).

Because call forwarding wasn't a thing on landline phones. "*72" allows you to forward on POTS. Given there is no scheduling but it's call forwarding...

Here is a list of all the vertical service codes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vertical_service_code

So in regards to the tune files for the handheld? You get all 2.0 files and the other versions as well ? Like 1.05 etc or is it only the 2.0s that he sends you

He only sent me 2.0. Perhaps you can request 1.05, but he has mentioned multiple times that he considers it a step back. Really liking it so far. Its not perfect (yet) but has already made my daily commute less stressful. The mid range torque is fantastic compared to stock, feels alot more like my old 4.0. Now my dad wants a tune for his 2017 highlander....

Been thinking about trying it too. Also wondering if the tune is calibrated for larger diameter tires? And if so what size? If not, larger diameter tires would bring effective final drive closer to stock even with 4.88/5.29 gears.

I don't think it's calibrated for larger tires. Tomorrow I'll be installing the 4.88 91 tune but I do have 5.29 gears and 35's

just flash it and go, see if you like it. If not flash back. It just changes shift points, can't damage anything

Painted voodoo blue interior trim, nitto ridge grapplers, bara 1 inch spacers, redline pro hood struts, trd oil and radiator caps.
I still have a weird issue with the 2.0 tune, same as it did with the 1.05 actually. When I WOT through all gears to about 70 to 75 I THINK its next gear is 4th? Not sure since it doesnt display. But it revs to where it should shift, then suddenly stalls for about 1.5 to 2 seconds, foot still on the floor, then suddenly surges again and THEN shifts. So basically I cant go from 0 to say 80 at WOT as whenever it shifts into what I believe is 4th gear it does this with perfect repeating consistency. But if I accelerate normal, it will shift perfect, same for low speed city driving.

Will all of the time 2.0 spends with the torque converter unlocked (to enhance drivability) result in reduced transmission longevity, or does the new shifting behavior stay within the normal duty cycle for the TC?
