So my kit is on the way, arriving Tuesday. Does anyone know if I can do the install on my PC get the computer ID and send it in for the reg file ahead of time or is there something in the box I need to wait on? I'd like to be ready to rock when it gets here. Thanks!

Can’t imagine doing this kind of abuse to my truck.... if you want a race every prick on the road then you should trade for a twin turbo Kia.

?? no service records? if so they should tell you which TSB was applied, and if your dealer followed requirements there should be a sticker on the front hood lip showing they did the update and what it was. The dealer should have also updated your vehicle records kept electronically - check your Toyota Care account and see if they did (presuming you are the original owner and set up the account access).

My favorites are the posts in the turbo thread demanding 450rwhp. Double the stock horsepower, what could go wrong lmao.

I dont. Its meant to be understood exactly as it's written, not interpreted. I said if I want to be able too, I should be able too. Not that I do, especially on a consistent basis. If I want to race, I jump in my racecar. But anyone who thinks a mid 40k truck that makes nearly 300 horse with all the modern tech 2019 brings shouldnt be capable of a few pulls here and there simply needs to get off toyotas dick and protecting their baby way too much. Because your riding that shit allthe way to the hilt. What I stated is WELL within the realm of realistic expectations. Saying it's not is just lowering the bar so a product you happen to adore doesnt look as though it's not up to expected default modern standards.

I've had a ton of shit cars over the years, for example a 2006 Sentra SE-R. Your telling me that my 2019 tacoma trd pro isnt as good as one of the worst Sentras ever made? Because it handled what most of us are asking of this truck with ease and it was a flaming pile of garbage. I'm not racing the truck. But If it cant handle a 0-60 every now and again perhaps the 3rd gen doesnt deserve the legendary lable its ancestors had? My guess is that it CAN handle it, it's your truck, drive it as you see fit mate. I dont criticize others for driving their investment like a granny, so same in return yeah?

Actually almost bought the kia. But I already have a fast car so.... redundant.

This comment sums up so much of what I think everytime I read on this forum. Especially with folks putting Toyota on a throne and bowing down loyally to them!

Also see folks and can’t help but smile and shake my head griping about folks who want better gas mileage. I’ve never seen or heard of anyone going into a dealer and turning down a purchase because ‘it’s a truck and it’s not supposed to get good gas mileage. You know if you buy a Tacoma you have to go to Tacoma world and they’ll tell you numerous times that you shouldn’t get good gas mileage so if you can’t fix this problem then I don’t want your truck!’

For those running 91 vs 87 tunes, is there any hard evidence about the HP/TQ differences between the two? I don't believe I've seen any dyno numbers showing the comparison. I know @OVTune mentioned that there is a difference between the two, but I didn't see the actual numbers.

currently running the 19800 91 tune, but i'm curios what the actual difference is vs the 19800 87 tune. I've run both, but couldn't really tell if i noticed a difference.

Going to say i agree with you. Toyota's are designed to be ran hard and still keep ticking. Hell if you owned any pre-2005 tacoma/hilux, you know you HAVE to beat it hard just to get on the highway. You would also know, that the truck enjoys it...

I'm a bit confused and hoping someone can help. I was about to tune my truck for the first time today but I ran into a problem. I have a 2020 that currently has a 04B80 ECU, however, on Flash Manager only goes up to 2019 and 04B31AT. Am I supposed to select those options even though they don't match my truck or is my software just not updated? Let me know if ya'll are aware of this. Thanks!

Mat hasn't released tunes for the 2020 yet. You'll have to wait until he does. Official word is that he'll do so by the end of the month.

That makes sense, thanks much! I guess I saw that he was selling 2016-20 kits and I assumed that 2020s were supported now. My bad

If you dig far enough back into this thread, @OVTune posted dyno results for higher octane tunes back when he was working on one of the earlier versions. There were documented gains.

With my truck, the main difference I noticed between the 87 and 91 versions of 19800 is that the 3800 rpm VVT 'surge' has been eliminated in the 87 version while it's still present in the 91 version. I assume 91 has more torque and HP just like in 1.05, but the 2.0 shift logic seems to have made that difference less important to drivability. 1.05 on 87 octane felt anemic to me. 19800 on 87 octane feels fine. In fact, because of the VVT behavior, it actually feels 'better' than 91, even though I'm sure it's less powerful.
